Virender Sehwag poses with his family before a special felicitation ceremony organised for retired star by the BCCI.
BCCI Honorary Secretary Mr Anurag Thakur felicitated Virender Sehwag before the start of play on Day 1 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. Sehwag announced his international retirement in October.
Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat in Delhi. India made one change to their line-up with Umesh Yadav replacing Amit Mishra for the fourth and final Test. Temba Bavuma, Kyle Abbott and Dane Piedt came in for Stiaan van Zyl, Kagiso Rabada and Simon Harmer in the South African playing XI.
Vijay didn't survive long after the reprieve though, edging another delivery to Amla in slips, off the bowling of Dane Piedt.
Vijay almost lost his wicket early in India's innings, edging an outside off-stump ball in slips but after multiple replays, the umpires decided that the bowler, Kyle Abbott, had overstepped.
Shikhar Dhawan played a watchful innings of 33 before losing his wicket to Dane Piedt soon after Lunch.
Cheteshwar Pujara hit the first six of the game, just before lunch, before Kyle Abbott dismissed him for 14.
South African wicketkeeper Dane Vilas showed exceptional presence of mind to end Virat Kohli's fighting knock at 44.
Kyle Abbott bowled Wriddhiman Saha for 1 at the stroke of Tea.
Ajinkya Rahane registered his eighth Test fifty, which surprisingly is also his first on Indian soil.
Ajinkya Rahane's unbeaten 89 saved India from the embarrassment of folding for another below-200 score.
