Asia Cup 2018: India vs Bangladesh, Final
India won the toss and opted to chase in the Asia Cup final. All five players who were rested in the Afghanistan game returned to the side whereas Bangladesh brought in left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam for Mominul Haque.
In a surprise move, Mehidy Hasan opened the batting alongside Liton Das.
The pair put on a century stand for the first wicket, dispatching Indian bowlers all round the park.
Liton was dropped on 52 by Yuzvendra Chahal off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja.
Liton Das converted his maiden ODI fifty into a maiden ODI hundred to give Bangladesh a really good start in the final.
Kedar Jadhav, brought into the attack in the 21st over, struck in his first over to remove Mehidy Hasan on 32.
India struck regularly after the 120-run opening stand. After Chahal removed Imrul Kayes LBW, Jadhav struck for the second time to pick Mushfiqur Rahim's wicket off a long hop.
Kuldeep Yadav then ran through the batting, picking Mahmudullah, Liton Das and skipper Mashrafe Mortaza to help India take control of the match.
Nazmul Islam and Soumya Sarkar fell to run outs, and Bumrah ended the innings with a scorching yorker. Bangladesh were bowled out for 222 in 48.3 overs.
India put on a 35-run opening stand but lost two wickets in the powerplay for the first time in the tournament.
Ambati Rayudu fell to a pearler from Mashrafe Mortaza and then Rubel Hossain delivered the crucial blow, picking Rohit Sharma off a short delivery.
MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik put on a 54-run stand for the fourth wicket, calming the nerves in India's dressing room until latter fell LBW to Mahmudullah.
Dhoni, who had started slow, managed to hit a few boundaries but Mustafizur had him caught behind, injecting panic in India's dressing room.
Kedar Jadhav struggled with his recurrent hamstring problem and had to retire hurt after the 38th over.
Mortaza and Rubel then tightened the noose. Bhuvneshwar Kumar released the pressure with a six off Rubel Hossain in the 46th over and then a boundary off Mustafizur in the next.
India needed 6 runs in the final over, which Kedar Jadhav, now back in the middle, and Kuldeep Yadav achieved off the last delivery of the match.
