Pakistan penalised for slow over-rate in T20 WC match against India

Pakistan have been fined five percent of their match fee for a slow over-rate offence during their Group A game against India in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Sunday.

The sanction was imposed by ICC Match Referee Trudy Anderson after Pakistan were adjudged to be one over short of the required rate after time allowances were taken into consideration.

As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl within the stipulated time.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Claire Polosak and Jacquline Williams, along with third umpire Eloise Sheridan and fourth umpire Sue Redfern. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana accepted the offence and the proposed sanction after pleading guilty, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

Pakistan lost the match by 64 runs, getting bowled out for 106 in reply to India's total of 170. Their next match is against South Africa at the same venue on Wednesday (June 17).
