Harshit Rana has been added to India's squad for the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai, the BCCI confirmed on Friday (June 19). Rana, who was at the BCCI Centre of Excellence for injury rehabilitation, is now fit and available for selection. He has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai.
Rana was ruled out of the T20 World Cup earlier this year after sustaining a knee injury during a warm-up match against South Africa on February 4 and was subsequently replaced in the squad by Mohammed Siraj.
The 24-year-old also missed IPL 2026, as the injury prevented him from featuring for Kolkata Knight Riders. After spending months on the sidelines, Rana was included in the squads for the T20I series against England and Ireland, as well as the Asian Games, set to be held in Japan. However, his return could to the pitch could happen in advance if he is picked in the playing XI for the Chennai ODI.
The pace-bowling allrounder last featured for India in the T20I series against New Zealand that preceded the T20 World Cup, also featuring in the one-dayers before that. In the final ODI against New Zealand, he took three wickets and scored 52 runs off 43 balls from No. 8. In 14 ODIs so far, he has taken 26 wickets at 27.38.
India lead the ODI series 2-0, having won the first two matches in Dharamsala and Lucknow. The third ODI will take place in Chennai on Saturday (June 20).
