Stats: Buttler goes top, India hit new low

England completed a 4-0 T20I series win over India, registering yet another clinical win by 56 runs in Southampton on Saturday (July 11). Here's a stats round-up from the fifth and final match of the series at The Rose Bowl:

4 This is the first instance of India losing four matches in a series or tournament in the history of T20Is. The previous most was three each in T20 World Cups 2009 and 2010 and the bilateral series in the Caribbean in 2023, incidentally their last series defeat until the start of this UK tour.

India winless in a white ball series (Min: 5 matches)

4Shreyas Iyer is the fourth captain from a Full Member team to remain winless after seven matches in charge in T20Is after Brendan Taylor, Elton Chigumbura, and Thisara Perera. However, he has won tosses in each of these games making him only the second captain after Gregory Taylor of Bahamas to win tosses in each of the first seven T20Is in charge.

257/3 by England is the highest total against India in T20 Internationals surpassing their effort of 246/7 at the Wankhede in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup earlier this year. This highest total for England after 304/2 against South Africa in Manchester in 2025 and 267/3 against West Indies in Tarouba in 2023.

17 sixes conceded by India today is the second most by them in a T20 International, only behind the 21 they conceded against West Indies in Lauderhill in 2016.

14556 runs by Buttler is the highest tally for an England batter in all T20 cricket surpassing Alex Hales tally of 14449, with only Kieron Pollard (14736) and Chris Gayle (14562) ahead of him. He hit his ninth hundred in the format today and his first on English soil.

131by Buttler is the highest ever individual score against India in T20Is surpassing Evin Lewis' unbeaten 125 in Kingston in 2017. The only higher score for England in the format is Phil Salt's 141* against South Africa in Manchester last year. Before his hundred today, Buttler went through 18 innings in the format without a 50+ score.

233The partnership of 233 by Buttler and Harry Brook is the second highest for any wicket for a Full Member side in T20Is, only behind the first-wicket stand of 236 between Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani in Dehradun in 2019.

It is also the highest second wicket stand for any team in T20Is, beating the unbeaten 210 between Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2024.

The previous highest partnership for any wicket against India was 174* between Quinton de Kock and David Miller in Indore in 2022 while for England in the format was 182 between Dawid Malan and Eoin Morgan against New Zealand in Napier in 2019.

19Balls taken by Brook to reach his fifty - the joint second fastest against India in T20Is, only behind Marco Jansen's 16-ball effort in Centurion in 2024. Cameron Green in Hyderabad in 2022 and Jacob Bethell at Wankhede in 2026 also hit 19-ball 50s against India in the past.

229runs by Brook this series is the most against India in a bilateral T20I series surpassing Nicholas Pooran's 184 runs in three matches in India in 2022. Brook scored his runs at a strike rate of 214; only one batter from a Full Member team scored more runs at a higher strike rate in a series - Abhishek Sharma's 279 runs at 219.68 against England at home in 2025.
