PLAYER OF THE MATCH
SA move closer to a qualification spot! They have been superb since their game against Australia. They won by 88 runs today and another big win against Bangladesh will be of huge help for them even if India beats Australia. Ideally they would want Australia to win. The next opponents though are Bangladesh. SA did slip a little against Pakistan but they can't afford another one against Bangladesh. We will be there calling that one! Time for us to bounce off. Bye bye...
Laura Wolvaardt: Yeah, we just tried to go as hard as we could up front. Yeah, I think you're always gonna be critical and want more, but I think Taz batted excellently and she was great to hold the innings together. I think we brought it back really nicely. I think in that power play, you know, the batters got off to a pretty good start. Like I said, nice wicket to bat on. We saw the pace off stuff was working, so I thought we'd make a few changes. The spinners came in well, controlled the middle. And then I went pace off as well, which worked nicely and kind of gained some control back. There's still only a few things to go our way as well. I think this big win helps. I think we know that we need another big win in our next one. But yeah, we're just trying to take it one step at a time. Obviously, winning the game is the most important thing, but if we do find ourselves in a position to win big, I think we'll try our best and hope a few things go our way. Well, iconic venue (next game at Lord's), so I think it'll be awesome for us to play there. Obviously, Bangladesh are a very different side. They have got a lot of slow spinners. I think it's something in this tournament we maybe haven't been the best at, so I'd like to see us bat nice and positively against that.
De Leede: We were thinking 170-180 was par. 200 was a bit too much. Unfortunately, we couldn't really get the momentum in the middle overs and the death. But it's great to see the youngsters step up. And, yeah, I'm very excited for our next game against Pakistan. No, it's an amazing opportunity. I think every game we've grown more and more. I think our fielding has improved. I think our bowling isn't quite where we want it to be yet, so we hope against Pakistan everything will click and we'll get a win in. It's amazing to have them here and also people from home supporting us. A lot of new fans that send us so many nice messages. It's great to have that support, to have our family and friends here. It's super special. And, yeah, the Orange Army has been really good today.
Tazmin Brits, Player of the Match: I wish it was one of those innings where I could actually say I remember everything, but I can't remember too much. I think probably going over extra. I've been working on the offside a bit more, so to actually get that right, I enjoyed that. I actually didn't even realise I was close to it (a 100), to be honest with you. I just wanted to try and get us to 200, so that was, that was the main goal. But yeah, I mean, I'm very chuffed. It's nice to do that, especially at a World Cup. We were 25 for two, so I wanted to show a bit more intent today. So hopefully I can continue with this to the next one. Yeah, so it was a sign language. I got asked to do a celebration in sign language. So I tried to study it a bit, but it's a bit difficult. So I just said, I am grateful to God. Yeah, whether I play or not, at the end of the day, I represent this badge and yeah, I love this country. So if I get an opportunity to do, I want to do the best of my ability. So, yeah, it's almost like whether you do it or not, if you sit out or not, I'm still part of the team.
21:37 Local Time, 20:37 GMT, 02:07 IST: SA needed a big win in case this group comes down to NRR and they have accomplished that. 209 was a big task always. The Dutch team started well and got 50 in the powerplay. But that was about it. SA tightened their grip post that and didn't allow Netherlands to score freely beyond the powerplay. The last over was chaotic as well with three wickets falling and the ball of the match being a hat-trick ball. Netherlands lost 8 wickets. And beyond the powerplay were never in the chase. It was supposed to be a one-sided affair, fortified further by the ton from Brits and then the SA bowlers and fielders just put their stamp of authority on the game.
