Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators, 30th Match, Pakistan Super League 2026 - CommentaryLHQ vs QTG, 30th Match, Pakistan Super League 2026 - Commentary
So, that's it from our side. But don't get anywhere because the second match of today's double-header between Rawalpindiz and Multan Sultans will start soon. Hop tabs to catch all the live action. Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Shaheen Afridi | Lahore Qalandars captain: (On winning such a tight match) This team is known for never giving up. But honestly speaking, I think that was not such a tight win. We will dedicate this win to Sikandar's father - he was here and the victory is for him. I think it was Fakhar's third Player of the Match this season and his hundred today will be memorable for us. Those runs were very valuable. (On areas to improve upon) A lot of things but we will try to keep it as simple as possible.
Saud Shakeel | Quetta Gladiators captain: It was a top-quality knock from Fakhar but we had pulled things back at the end with the ball. 200 was a par score on this surface. I think we were in a really good batting phase at one point as well but Rossouw's wicket hurt us. If he had stayed for one or two more overs, the match situation could have been different. (On their qualification hopes) I feel even if there's 1 percent chance to qualify, you will be hopeful. The things that are not in our control, we won't focus on them but we have one more match to go and we will try to win that.
Fakhar Zaman | Player of the Match: (On his knock) In the beginning, the wicket was not so easy, the ball was not coming onto the bat that nicely, there was seam and swing on offer too. But we knew that whenever there's a green wicket in Lahore and if you survive the new ball, it becomes easier to score runs later on and that's what happened. (On his quality batting against spin today) When you play the new ball, it becomes easier to play the spinners because it's not easy to bat against the likes of quality spinners like Abrar and Tariq straightaway. You must have noticed that strokeplay wasn't easy for our new batters but it was easy for me because I had already spent the tough time on this wicket so it became easier for me.
18:14 Local Time, 13:14 GMT, 18:44 IST: Back-to-back wins for Lahore Qalandars has given them some much-needed momentum. Quetta Gladiators threatened in the run-chase but losing wickets at crunch intervals led to their downfall. A fluent fifty from Shamyl at the top gave the visitors a good base to work with. But they lost Shamyl and the in-form Hasan Nawaz in a space of two deliveries and that pegged them back. Rossouw though was in brilliant touch from the word-go and kept finding boundaries at will. He brought up his fifty off just 25 balls and was looking really dangerous. But in a bid to keep attacking Ubaid Shah, he fell against the run of play and that was the turning point in the game. The lower middle-order found it tough on a surface where there was some extra bounce and movement and crumbled under pressure. Abrar gave his side a glimmer of hope by scoring some boundaries but he had too much to do and the hosts closed the game out nicely at the fag end. Special mention to Fakhar's magnificent century on a spicy surface which was a match-winning one for the Qalandars. Stick around for the presentations...
