PLAYER OF THE MATCH
After a flying start to the season, Texas Super Kings have now lost consecutive games and will be hoping a change of venue helps them get back on track. MI New York, meanwhile, have bounced back nicely after their defeat to Washington Freedom, opening their account with a comfortable win. That's all from this game. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..
Nicholas Pooran | MINY captain: Tough turnaround, the guys came in a few days ago and to play back-to-back games, so it's always challenging, but credit to the guys, we got a small window for recovery, came to the meetings, and we knew what we had to do today. Yeah, I mean, obviously starting from yesterday, right? You think small margins. Obviously, yesterday we got defeated, but we didn't give up. And that's most important in T20 cricket. You don't want to get blown away from the team. You want to stay as consistent as possible, stay within the fight, and give ourselves a chance, obviously we knew yesterday where we went wrong, and today gave us the opportunity to correct it, getting the opportunity to bowl first again today. And Boulty came on, brought the experience, and that's exactly what we needed. And the rest of the guys followed suit, but I think brilliant performance of the guys at the back. I think losing two wickets and getting the job done. (Do you speak about slow starts to the season?) I mean, for some reason that first game haunts us, but that's not how we start. We knew that for a fact in the first year, and then obviously last year, starting, having challenging starts, and still coming back and winning the competition. We as a team, we pride ourselves in putting our heads together and figuring it out, and kudos to the entire group from the owners, management, the coaches and the players, for sticking around and tough times. That defines our team, and obviously the guys in the blue. So it's a special group of guys, and we're here to win. We know who we're playing for, and we know the challenges we face every single competition. So the mindset is to turn up, be as professional as we can. Yes, the game come very, very fast, but at the end of the day, we are professionals. We need to wake up, do what's required, and at the end of the day, it's all about performances and results, right? Happy Father's Day to all the fathers, we work hard.
Corbin Bosch | Player of the Match: It was fantastic getting your first win on the board. I think we showed we were quite rusty yesterday, so it was nice to put a really good performance in and especially from a bowling perspective after a little bit of carnage yesterday, bringing it back nicely today. (His general approach when put under pressure) Yeah, today was, I think we reflected it earlier today and just said we've got to keep it as simple as possible and I think we did that a lot better today than we did yesterday and we executed better and I think our plans and execution today was just up there and I think it showed today. (The difficulties of the game yesterday and the ease today?) I think they're probably both just as difficult. I think we were just a little bit sharper today than we were yesterday. I think maybe with the bowling we were a little bit sloppy at times and yeah, I think we were just more switched on today really for the game today.
Donovan Ferreira | TSK captain: Yeah we were a bit short today. But we had the belief that we could do it by just hitting the good lengths over there, but unfortunately for us it didn't come off today. (Just one wicket in the powerplay) Yeah, I mean, history just shows you that batting second over here gets a little easier. So, we needed to control the powerplay, but I think we dragged it out nicely. One or two close calls there at the back end, but yeah, unfortunately, we didn't have enough. (Just one win at home. What next for them?) Yeah, well, I mean, it's a completely different venue. So for us, it's to assess, have a couple of days now moving on to the next venue. So it's just about assessing the conditions and hitting the ground running.
22:56 Local Time, 03:56 GMT, 09:26 IST: MI New York made light work of the chase and never really looked under any pressure. Quinton de Kock provided a brisk start, helping the opening pair put on 49 runs, before Monank Patel took charge of the innings. He anchored the pursuit beautifully and stitched together a crucial 50-plus stand with Nicholas Pooran to keep the chase firmly on track. Even after Monank's dismissal, there was no sense of urgency in the MI New York camp. Kieron Pollard joined Pooran in the middle and the experienced West Indies pair bided their time, ensuring there were no hiccups along the way. They kept Texas Super Kings in the contest just long enough before shutting the door and sealing the win with 14 balls to spare. Earlier, Texas Super Kings had posted what proved to be a below-par 158. While their bowlers fought hard and searched for breakthroughs, they simply didn't have enough runs to exert sustained pressure on the MI New York batting unit that controlled the chase from start to finish.

Mulder to Nicholas Pooran, FOUR, MI New York win by 8 wickets. Another full toss and this time angling down leg, Pooran gets the slightest of contacts on the glance and the ball races away fine. Pollard points his bat like a gun towards someone in the MINY dugout. The players exchange handshakes..

Viljoen to Nicholas Pooran, no ball, taken at cover. But the umpire has signalled a no-ball. It is a high full toss and looked to be above the waist unlike the one Pollard got in the previous over. It is also the second high full toss Viljoen has bowled. So he's off the attack.. Mulder to complete the over. He will have to deal with a free-hit. Pooran was taken by surprise and splices it to cover

Viljoen to Nicholas Pooran, SIX, fifty for Pooran. A controlled knock from the West Indian. He raises his bat and acknowledges the applause, looks up to the heavens. Slower delivery, right in the slot and Pooran smashes it down the ground, sends it crashing into the sightscreen
