Los Angeles Knight Riders vs MI New York, 20th Match, Major League Cricket 2026 - CommentaryLAKR vs MINY, 20th Match, Major League Cricket 2026 - Commentary
MI New York jump to the top of the table with their third successive win. Four out of the five matches have been won by the chasing team in Pomona. Will that trend continue? Tune in tomorrow for the final two games of the season at this venue. Until then, goodbye.
Nicholas Pooran | MINY captain: Very happy obviously. Winning the toss and batting second, batting second after quite a while. The way we went about it assessing the conditions, I think KKR [LAKR] played really well. Credit goes to them, but happy we could restrict them a bit and chase the total down. It was just about fighting out the tough moments, because we felt like under the lights, it gets better to bat, and that's something we wanted to do. Obviously, the guys took responsibility and we saw the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket [Pollard] taking responsibility, counting the game down and finishing the end part with Corey. (You feel you're on your way now as a side?) Definitely, yeah. Momentum for us and we know as a group, we work really hard to get ourselves in this position to win games. So, happy. I'm just gonna stay really, really humble and obviously build from here.
Pollard upped the ante immediately after the drinks break by hitting two fours off Shadley van Schalkwyk. Carmi le Roux picked up a couple of wickets in the following over, which brought Anderson to the crease. The two power-hitters hit boundaries at regular intervals and ensured the asking rate didn't go out of reach. They even watchfully played out a Narine (4-0-7-0) over. With 51 needed off the last 4 overs, they went after Holder, smashing 19 runs off his final over. Pollard brought up a fifty, things got a bit tight towards the end but Anderson wrapped up the proceedings with a six as MINY emerged victorious with a ball to spare.
22:17 Local Time, 05:17 GMT, 10:47 IST: MI New York keep their unbeaten record against Los Angeles Knight Riders intact. It's 6-0 now. A Pollard special to take them home. LAKR, inserted to bat, got off to a slow start but managed to post a competitive total of 165 on the board. In reply, MINY didn't gain any momentum in the first half of the run-chase. Narine bowled three overs in the powerplay and MINY were 55/2 at the end of the 10th over. The asking rate had climbed to 11.1 RPO.
