CSK

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
SRH will be happy that two games in a row, their pacers have come to the party. They made the call to bring Hinge and Sakib in the last game and that has worked beautifully. CSK on the other hand would feel that they should've chased this down. There was reverse for the pacers but 195 at this venue is not a big total considering the pitch. Time for Gaikwad to make some runs is what everyone in the CSK camp would be hoping for. Also time for us to wind up things. Saturday's double-header is done but there's Sunday and we will be there nice and early for another double-header. See you tomorrow. Till then sleep tight, cuddle well and snore away your worries. Bye bye.
Eshan Malinga | Player of the Match: "Before the match, as a bowling team, we had a good plan. And we know how behaviour, that Hyderabad wicket and we know after 10 overs, the ball gets reversed. And we know how to play in this kind of Hyderabad wicket and we executed it. (when does he decide what kind of delivery he will bowl?) Actually, Ishan was coming for me and he asking me what kind of deliveries you are going to deliver. And through the bowling mark, I will decide what kind of delivery I will bowl. (on importance of reverse swing at the back-end) The reverse is very important for me and other bowlers because it's a good wicket-taking bowler, then get reverse, we can execute, the batsmen can't, they are struggling to hit it."
Ishan Kishan | SRH captain: "Lovely. When you have a bunch of young bowlers and you know they're executing their plans well. They're coming up with their own plans as well and bowling as per the plan. So it's very good to see, you know, there's a lot of less pressure on the captain to set the field because they are ahead of the game anyway. So it was lovely to see them doing their job today. (were they 20 short?) Yeah, 100% I feel, Abhishek got out pretty early, but still, after scoring 60-odd runs, always when we have ended up scoring 220, 230. We've always seen there are.... from the first three batters, there's one batsman is always scored big runs. So we were missing on that today, but especially with this team, with this batting line-up, I feel, yes, we were 20 runs short maybe. (trusting his young bowlers) Yeah, actually looking at them in practice sessions, giving their best, trying to get better and better day by day. So you have to trust your bowlers. This is a bunch of bowlers we have at this point of time and I think they are very keen on doing well. So that is the time when you just give them the ball and let them do what they want to. (on the pitch) I think it was a pretty good wicket to bat on, to be very honest. That's why I'm saying we were, I think, 30-40 runs short. But yeah, a lot to learn from this game as well. Looking at the shot selection, I think we could have done better. (on the points table) Nah, to be very honest, we're not looking at the points table right now. I know it's a very long tournament. We need to keep our head down, take a game day by day, just one match at a time and let's see how it goes."
Nitish Reddy: "Everyone did a good job. I mean, it's a team effort and thankfully we are on a winning note. (clear in his plans) I mean, yeah, I was thinking to bowl according to the situation and use my field and that's what exactly I have done. It's a matter of execution and it went pretty well. (on the pitch) It was good. I thought it's about to spin, but our fast bowlers did very well and it was good to bat on, but our bowlers have executed the plan well. (message passed on to the bowlers) It's just from outside, we just got the news that use your top of off length and don't try to do too much. That's what we have done and you can see we have collected a couple of wickets in the powerplay. (on Shivang Kumar) Yeah, he was doing pretty good and his mystery bowling has been helping us very well and I hope he continues the same way in the entire tournament."
Ruturaj Gaikwad | CSK captain: (fancied chasing down 195?) "Definitely, any day! I think, Ravi bhai, as you rightly said, I felt, how the powerplay went, bowling-wise for us, anything I was looking around 220 or 230, but to pull back 30 runs, it was a great bowling effort and on this type of ground, on this type of pitch, any day I would have taken (target) less than 200. (at one stage, the required rate had come down to 8 and you had about 6 wickets in hand) Yes, as you rightly said, it was just about 80 runs needed in 10 overs and from there I think it was just about building a couple of partnerships, and then making sure that the opposition is not in the game and under pressure as well. But I think couple of overs after that really changed the momentum. We scored just 4 runs in the next 2 overs after the 10-over mark. So I think that really helped them, and obviously, we knew that once we come into the death overs, it's going to be tough chasing 12s or 13s an over, so credit to them, they bowled really well in the back-end. (what has worked in the last few games?) I think it's been three successive games that the bowling unit has been doing really well. Even today, everyone just stepped up after the powerplay. Even powerplay, I felt, Abhishek batted brilliantly. He took on the bowlers. We didn't give away any loose deliveries, just some really good cricket. Hats off to that. But even after that once we got that momentum, I think we cashed on it really well and everyone chipped in... Jamie (Overton), Gurjapneet (Singh), Noor (Ahmad) and even Anshul (Kamboj) to top it off at the end. I think everyone did a good job. (Anshul Kamboj has been a shining light) He's working really hard on his bowling, especially his death bowling. I think you very rarely get bowlers who are really clear and tell the captain, okay, I got this, I know what to do. These are my plans. So I think I'm really glad to have him in our side. As you said, he's doing really well. He's improving day by day."

This is just the second time that CSK went past 180 without any individual 50-plus score in an IPL run-chase. The first had come against Delhi Capitals in Delhi back in 2008, a game they won off the final ball (target: 188, top-scorer: Stephen Fleming: 44 off 28).
23:32 Local Time, 18:02 GMT, 23:32 IST: SRH move to fourth spot in the points table and join two other teams on 6 points. They also break CSK's two-match winning run. Samson was the big wicket as he had a very good record here at RGIS in T20s. Gaikwad failed again and Mhatre who was looking in good form suffered what looked like a hamstring injury which could rule him out of the season. He gamely tried to battle on but fell to a good catch. Short and Sarfaraz got together and strung a stand but the latter got out and Brevis fell for a duck soon after. CSK relied on Dube to take them home but he was bowled by Sakib and Jamie Overton struggled for timing throughout his knock. Good death bowling saw SRH edge this one. Eshan Malinga was the pick with a three-fer while Sakib and Nitish were impressive as well. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff....
