17:31 Local Time, 12:01 GMT, 17:31 IST: With five wickets on Day 1, Sri Lanka will feel they've done well to prevent India from running away with the game. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal both got starts, but both failed to convert it into bigger knocks. Devdutt Padikkal was reprieved on 0 and 1; neither chance was straightforward, but the home team was made to pay as the Indian number 3 cemented his position with a second Test hundred. He added 120 for the third wicket with Shubman Gill before a loose cut dismissed the Indian captain for an even 50. Rishabh Pant was struck on his wrist and had to retire - a lovely delivery dismissed Padikkal, while Jadeja's battling innings ended late in the day and against the second new ball. 300 is still plenty of runs and this pitch has shown signs of being a very good wicket. Dhruv Jurel has looked solid and the visitors will hope Pant can put on a show tomorrow. Asitha Fernando's 3-wicket haul has kept the home team in with a chance, and they'll have to maximize the 5-over old second new ball if they are not to let India run away towards a big score. Join us at 10 am for the first ball of Day 2. For now, cheers and bye..

Asitha Fernando to Ravindra Jadeja, out Bowled!! That's a bad leave and RJ has lost his off-stump. The round the wicket angle has worked its charm for Asitha Fernando, but he did deserve this wicket. His third wicket and Sri Lanka have struck with the second new ball - on a good length and kept coming back into the right-hander, RJ thought he has covered is stumps as he shouldered arms, but the ball goes on and clatters into the top of off-stump. Asitha is chuffed to bits as India lose half their side. Ravindra Jadeja b Asitha Fernando 43(83) [4s-4]
