Mahmudul Hasan is a talented young batsman, who has been a significant part of the Bangladesh Under-19 team. He was a part of the 2008 Under-19 World Cup squad and then led the side successfully in 2009 during their home series against Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and England. He was also the captain of the 2010 Under-19 World Cup squad. His team won the Plate final, beating Ireland.

Hasan made his first-class debut in 2008 for the Chittagong Division against Dhaka Division in the National Cricket League. He now plays for the Rangapur Division. He has over 750 first-class runs and over 50 first-class wickets as of now. With decent performances at domestic level, Hasan is still waiting to get a break in the national side.
