1(3)3-20

This game went right down to the wire but London Spirit won the key moments to seize the game. Welsh Fire though didn't have a realistic chance to qualify for the Eliminator but would have liked to cap off the season with a win. The final game of the league stage between MI London and Birmingham Phoenix is coming up. MI need to win and win big if they are to topple the Sunrisers to make it to the Eliminator. Switch tabs to enjoy all the action. Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
David Willey | Match Hero: (On his figures of 3/20 and the last few deliveries of the game)Yeah, look, we talked about using the pitch, and there's still enough there, I think, when you smack the pitch hard, there was enough, and you saw the guys hit it straight up. So, bit of a stinker, the one I bowled to Wokesy, hit me for six, but nice to get over the line there. (On his nerves on the last ball) Yeah, we just again talked about making sure we smack the pitch, the strong breeze, and nice catch on the boundary, that got us over the line. (On summing up the season) Yeah, look, I think with it being such a short competition, every game's really important. I think if we reflect on the first couple of games, we were probably 5% off, which really hurt us. I think if we get across the line in those two games, our season could look completely different. So, while we sit and look at the ladder at the back end of the comp and think, oh, it's not been a great year, like a couple of small wins here and there, and we'd have been a lot higher.
17:53 Local Time, 16:53 GMT, 22:23 IST: London Spirit put up a decent total on the board and their bowlers have done really well to defend it. Fire were the favourites when they needed 27 off 20 but the trio of Milne, Overton and Willey were brilliant at the backend. Short fell for a duck but Salt and Root stitched a composed 42-run partnership to keep things moving. Salt couldn't convert his start into something substantial. But Cox came in and rode the momentum as he hit the ball all around the ground. He looked in great touch and was ably supported by Root. Coles got the better of Root for 31 but Cox kept going. Milne delivered an outstanding penultimate set where he got two wickets in two balls (including Cox) and conceded just a run to put his team into the driver's seat. Woakes struck a six off the 98th ball to keep things interesting but Spirit held their nerves eventually to clinch the game by a 6-run margin.

Willey to Marco Jansen, out Caught by Jamie Overton!! Spirit have held their nerves to win this game! A shortish delivery outside off, Jansen pulls it with good power over mid-wicket. It made a cracking sound off the bat. But Overton near the fence at deep mid-wicket is cool as a cucumber and takes a well-judged catch. Marco Jansen c Jamie Overton b Willey 1(4)

Willey to Rachin Ravindra, out Caught&Bowled!! Rachin's departure might well be curtains for Fire! A slower delivery on leg-stump, Ravindra tries to heave it across but gets a top-edge. Willey runs in front and pouches it safely. He lost control of his bat while playing the shot and the bat flew away. Willey continues to impress. Rachin Ravindra c and b Willey 9(10) [4s-1]
