Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, 50th Match, Indian Premier League 2026 - CommentaryLSG vs RCB, 50th Match, Indian Premier League 2026 - Commentary
It's been a long night due to the rain breaks in the first innings, but it was a closely fought encounter. Although LSG did most of the things right today, they had to toil hard for this win. Not long ago, the playoff spots seemed like a formality for the last year's finalists. But it ain't so straightforward now. PBKS have lost three in a row, while the defending champions have lost back-to-back matches. The points table standings remain unchanged after today's game. Tune in tomorrow for Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders. Until then, goodbye and good night.
Mitchell Marsh | Player of the Match: Yes it has (been a tough season). Nice to get on the right side of the game and get a win. Really good for our morale. Disappointing season but still a lot to play for. Few of the Indian boys said before the game that it looked a bit better (the pitch) than the previous wickets we've played on. Tried to maximise the powerplay as much as I could. I just tried to get as many as I could in the powerplay and get us off to a good start. Have an impact on the game. It's an area we haven't got right in the tournament so far. The last two games we've batted really well. Probably 10-15 short in Mumbai on a really good wicket. We know that they are a good side. Tonight we were courageous in the way we bowled. We know Bangalore are a fantastic side, they bat deep, and it wasn't over till it was over. Proud of some of the young guys in our attack to be able to defend that total and get a win.
Rishabh Pant | LSG captain: It was a good game for us for sure. For the whole team it means a lot. We have been trying lot of things. Coming to the same page means a lot for us. It's been a tough season but sometimes you have to go through the grind. Definitely we were trying to put together a perfect game where batting and bowling comes together. There has been some good luck and some bad luck but really happy to get a win. It was a tough call (to go with Rathi over Shahbaz). We were under pressure. But at the same time you've got to trust your bowler. Rathi was the right matchup for sure against Shepherd. He trusted himself and got the job done for the team. Unbelievable (Marsh innings). We know that as a team we've been grinding hard. Our strength this season has been bowling, the way all the bowlers have put their heart out, especially Prince, Shami bhai, Rathi, all the bowlers.. Avesh, Mayank. There has been some good things as a bowling unit, and looking forward to that.
Prince Yadav: I misfielded the first ball, but I knew I had to put it behind me and ensure I don't lose focus. After the last match I was talking to Virat bhaiya and he only told me - as long as it's moving around off a length, stick to that length (talking about the Kohli wicket). We lost six consecutive matches but will continue to put in efforts.
Rajat Patidar | RCB captain: We were pretty sure how to go about the target. Boys played well and the way we stretched this game, just one or two shots behind. It was really good batting track. Was coming nicely on the bat. Difficult to analyse just after the game, need some time to analyse it. We have four games more, just taking one game at a time, one step at a time. Mitchell Marsh was beautiful, the way he played. And especially in the powerplay, he kept us under pressure. I was confused about the bowlers - who should I bowl to Mitchell Marsh just after the powerplay. But I think the way he played, I think that was a tremendous inning. The way we played, that was really good intent showed by all batsmen. Everyone is looking confident and in a great space of mind.

00:27 Local Time, 18:57 GMT: Smiles in the LSG camp after a long time. Their six-match losing streak is ended and so is their 8-match losing streak at this venue. They were put under pressure but they held their nerves in the end to emerge victorious and keep their teeny tiny hopes alive. There were a few rain breaks but LSG posted 209 in 19 overs on the back of Mitch Marsh's incredible hundred followed by handy 30s from Pooran and Pant. In reply, RCB lost both their openers cheaply. Shami nipped out Bethell in the very first over and Prince bowled a beauty to castle Kohli. RCB counterattacked with Padikkal and Patidar stitching a 95-run stand for the third wicket. The RCB captain in particular was hitting the ball really well. Prince came back to break that stand, he bounced out Jitesh in the same over and Patidar holed out against Shahbaz in the following over. RCB slipped from 104/2 to 112/5 but they didn't go down without a fight. Tim David took the attack to the LSG bowlers and scored a 17-ball 40. Krunal and Romario Shepherd hit boundaries to keep RCB in the hunt. 60 runs came off 4 overs (14- 18). With 20 needed off the final over, two spinners were eager to bowl. Pant decided to go with Digvesh and he delivered for his team.
