Bangladesh vs Australia, 3rd T20I, Australia tour of Bangladesh, 2026 - CommentaryBAN vs AUS, 3rd T20I, Australia tour of Bangladesh, 2026 - Commentary
That wraps up our coverage for this match, but the cricket doesn't stop here! Head over to our live match centre where India A are firmly in the driver's seat against Sri Lanka A in the high-stakes Tri-Series final, West Indies are making it tough for Sri Lanka while India are waiting to play South Africa shorty in the Women's World Cup. Meanwhile, New Zealand have just levelled the Test series against England. Goodbye for now, and see you at the next game!
Bangladesh won the ODIs 2-1, Australia hit back hard 3-0 in the T20Is. Had they grabbed crucial moments, Bangladesh could have made some dents in the T20Is as well. The Aussies have a break now before they host Bangladesh for a couple of Tests, interestingly in the month of August. Bangladesh meanwhile immediately travel to Zimbabwe for a one-off Test, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
Marsh collects the trophy and hands it to the team and they pose in front of the winners board. Tim David and Nathan Ellis are sitting on the bikes, ready for a ride around the ground.
Mitch Marsh | PoTM | Australia captain: (What a way to finish the series!) Yeah, it's nice to leave this series 3-0. I'm just really proud of the boys. It was a great effort. (When you saw Bangladesh scoring 109, you thought that there was something in for the bowlers in the wicket?) I thought we executed really well. I'm not sure how I got Man of the Match. I think Spencer Johnson picked three for six (2/6) off four overs, so maybe he should be up here, but I thought, all-round performance... The way that we adapted to the conditions, each and every game, took our learnings and I thought we were fantastic with the ball today. (After losing the ODI series a clean sweep must be a very pleasing feeling). Yeah, it is. Awesome to have some guys debuting, some guys coming back in after a long time out of this team and contributing really well, so, it's a great team to be around and I'm very happy.
Matt Renshaw | PoTS: (And how's the feeling)? Yeah, really nice. Nice to win 3-0 and nice to contribute with both bat and ball. Yep, it has been a little bit difficult at times, but today I showed how dominant Australia can be with the bat and also with the ball. Yeah, I think we obviously started well. The boys in the power play did really well. And then bossed at the top, sort of putting the run chase to bed. (A word on the bowlers, I thought they did brilliantly to restrict you today)? Yeah, we just kept taking wickets. All the boys were really good today. Kept taking wickets and put the Bangladesh top order under pressure. And yeah, fortunately for us, it was a good chase. (Enjoyed your trip to Bangladesh)? Yeah, definitely. A bit different. Last time I was here was 2017, so one all draw there and one all draw today with the one-day series and the T20Is. So yeah, great place to play. The team is really good and it's going to be a good test series in a couple of months. Cheers
Towhid Hridoy | Bangladesh captain: (What went wrong in the batting department)? At the beginning, we lost a couple of wickets. That's the main thing. If we lose a wicket or so, it's difficult to make a score. But you looked to be in control. You scored a very good 50, but you needed some support from the others. Yeah, I tried my best and executed my plan. (Was the wicket difficult to bat on)? No, not that difficult. The wicket was good, but we didn't play our game. 109 is never a big total for the opposition to chase. (What would you have done differently if you had another chance)? Just at the beginning, we needed a partnership, nothing else. If we get a partnership, then we can easily reach 170-180.
16:44 Local Time, 10:44 GMT, 16:14 IST: 109 wasn't going to be enough even on a tough pitch and Mitch Marsh made an absolute mockery of the target by killing the game in the powerplay. Bangladesh gave a tough fight in the second game, were decent in the first game but this was a no contest. They were at least 60-70 short of a good score on this pitch. It was captain Towhid Hridoy who took the hosts beyond the 100 mark with a fighting fifty but he got no support as Johnson, Ellis and Zampa led the Aussie hunt with two wickets apiece. In reply Marsh was 18 off 13 balls but he decided to flick the switch and reach his fifty in the next 10 balls. Bangladesh lost all hopes with that assault and the Aussies eventually romped home to an easy and thrashing win.
