Three Test wins in a row for Bangladesh over Pakistan and it's fast becoming a problem for Shan Masood's men. They'd have come here feeling they had a good chance of adding valuable WTC points, but it's the hosts who've landed the first punch. Their first win on home soil against Pakistan and they can't lose the series now. Can they complete back-to-back series wins against Pakistan? Or will the wounded tigers fight back in Sylhet? We'll be back with more comprehensive coverage of the second Test which starts on the 16th of May. Until then, you have plenty of IPL action to enjoy. For now, cheers and bye..
Shanto (2/2) - (On his batting form) Really happy. I think I was always thinking about how to contribute every single match. I am really happy to contribute for my team. (On the pitch and conditions) I think the first innings, especially the first two to three hours, were very challenging for batting. But I think Mominul bhai batted brilliantly. After that, yes, always there's extra bounce but we managed to play some good shots and that was the plan, especially Mominul and Mushfiqur, the way they batted in the first innings. (On the plans for the second Test) Today we need to enjoy ourselves and in Sylhet, different challenge and different conditions. We have to prepare ourselves and plan accordingly to the conditions and I hope we will play some good cricket over there.
Najmul Shanto | Bangladesh Captain | PoTM (1/2) - Yes, very happy and proud of all the guys, the way we played, especially this Test match, really happy and we have been working hard last few months, so really happy the way we played. (On the first-ever Test win at home against Pakistan) I didn't know that, but a great experience and I'm feeling very proud the way we played. Slowly, we are getting better in Test cricket. So that is one thing we always wanted to, so really happy the way we played. (If they'd have bowled first had they won the toss) No, we had a plan that we are going to bat first. (On the declaration) We have a quality bowling attack. As you mentioned, we wanted to bat first because of the way we prepared ourselves last few months and the we batted especially middle of the overs, someone like Mushfiq bhai, Litton and Mominul bhai is there. So we're pretty confident that if we won the toss, we were going to bat. That was the plan. And why we declared? Because we have some quality bowling attack. In these conditions, the way Rana, Taskin, Miraz and Taijul bowled, really happy and that's what I want from team.
Masood (2/2) - (On the debutants) Extremely pleased. When we picked them, obviously we picked them with seeing potential that they belong to this level and the maturity Azan (Awais) showed, I think he copped a blow to the head, kept going, fought for the team, was brave. And then played some delightful shots along with Abdullah (Fazal), who was a late entry. He didn't even know he was going to be playing the Test match till very late at night when Babar had to pull out. So when he came in, he showed maturity in that first innings and then second innings. And now, I think for them, the thing is, can they be consistent in Test cricket? And I think they have the potential to do that. (On the areas to improve) When you get opportunities in the game where you can really stamp your authority on the opposition, I think we have to do that. And those are things, realising moments in the game, even today, I thought there were instances. When Abdullah and Agha had that partnership, I thought that if they had batted for another, let's say, half an hour or an hour, that would have put us in a really strong position. And then when Rizwan and Saud were batting as well. So instances in the game where we sort of bring ourselves into the game, but sort of not capitalize on those situations.
Shan Masood | Pakistan Captain (1/2) - (On the decision to bowl first) Hindsight is 20/20, we looked at the conditions, we thought that in terms of seam bowling, we had the best conditions. We got two early wickets and in the first innings, we did not capitalise on that good start. And on the first innings start with the bat as well, I thought there were instances where we could have really sort of pushed the gas, scored more runs, taken a bit of a lead, but the first innings with bat and ball, that's where we have to look at ourselves. (On the bowling department) You can never question the effort, especially when you're playing Test cricket after six months. But it was hard after that first hour. Shanto and Mominul played well. You have to give credit to them. But again, from that second hour till the end of the day, we came back well on the second day, and again, we came back well with the bat as well in the first innings. But again, Test cricket on surfaces like this, it teaches you that when you have the game in your hands, you have to really push the opposition away from the game, but I thought we failed to do that.
16:54 Local Time, 10:54 GMT, 16:24 IST: Who saw this coming? Bangladesh's 413 was almost cancelled out by Pakistan's 386 and then rain consumed valuable time on Day 3 and 4. When play started today, Bangladesh showed their intent with some quick runs and declared at 240 for 9, an overall lead of 267 runs. The target wasn't out of reach even on this Day 5 wicket, but once again Pakistan's tentativeness while attempting to save a Test on Day 5 was evident. A few starts, but barring Abdullah Fazal's 66, none of the other batters were willing to spend time in the middle. Still, they were only 3 down at tea and would've thought they had done enough to save the Test. But they didn't account for Nahid Rana - the fiery pacer bowled with pace and his discipline proved too hot to handle. A loose drive by Saud Shakeel and a misjudgement from Rizwan pushed them back before the tail was blown away. Bangladesh have 16 valuable points in the WTC table and they can't lose this series now. Nahid took five wickets and has recently emerged as a new red-ball hero for his team. We'll be back shortly for the presentations..

Nahid Rana to Shaheen Afridi, out Caught by Mominul!! All-over! Bangladesh have beaten Pakistan at home for the first time - Shaheen Afridi has reviewed this catch at FSL, but he seems to have resigned to his fate. Banged in short and into the body - tucked the left-hander for room on the pull, smashed into his glove and then popped up for a simple catch to FSL. Momuinul with the catch, replays confirm the inevitable for Shaheen and Bangladesh can celebrate the moment. Shaheen Afridi c Mominul b Nahid Rana 0(14),
