Tim Seifert | Match Hero: [On his 80 off 40 and how it felt] Yeah, look, it obviously felt good, but the most important thing is getting the team the victory, and we got that today. [On whether he knew they needed to chase the target within 75 balls to improve their net run rate above Sunrisers] No, I had no idea, to be honest. The message got run out when we probably, I think we needed about 50 runs to get there. Yeah, that’s when we kind of looked to put the pedal down. But yeah, going into the game, had no idea. [On whether he prefers knowing the required net run rate scenario beforehand] No, I think not knowing, to be honest. Like, the way that we want to put pressure on the bowlers straight away, that doesn’t change. So I don’t think we want to try and push it too hard. Obviously, a good start allows us to do what we did tonight. Obviously, it doesn’t always come off, but yeah, personally, I wouldn’t like to know and just go out there and hopefully do like today. [On why he has been enjoying his batting in the tournament] I think, look, we’ve got a great side, it’s a great environment to play with and yeah, it’s my first time playing the Hundred. It’s a great tournament to be involved in and the crowds, it’s great to be playing in front of good decent crowds and amazing stadiums and just a good tournament, to be honest. [On the bowlers restricting Leeds to 127 and setting up the chase] Yeah, unbelievable. Credit to (Mitchell) Marsh and (Ryan) Rickelton. They got off to a good start as well. But the way that we pulled them back was outstanding from our bowlers and obviously, that momentum went into our batting as well. [On the plans ahead of the eliminator at the Oval] Yeah, look, obviously make our way down to London and probably get a training in there. But most important thing, just get around as a team and enjoy tonight, but obviously look forward to the eliminator final.
20:58 Local Time, 19:58 GMT, 01:28 IST: What a chase this has been by Manchester Super Giants. They have dominated Sunrisers Leeds in all departments today. MSG put on an absolute masterclass to crush SUL, comfortably chasing down a target of 128 with 33 balls to spare. The chase was set up by a breathtaking display of power-hitting from Tim Seifert, who completely dismantled the opposition’s attack in the powerplay to race to a 25-ball 50. Along with him, Paul Walter played the ideal supporting role early on by smartly rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. By the time the strategic time-out arrived, MSG needed just 66 runs off 65 balls. SUL looked entirely out of answers. Nathan Ellis was the sole bright spot for Leeds, bowling with tight control to briefly restrict the scoring, but he lacked any real support from the other end. Walter then stepped on the gas and brought up the 100-run partnership with Walter and ensured MSG wiped off the target as quickly as possible to give their NRR a massive boost. This win gives MSG 20 points, tying with Leeds. The fight for qualification gets tighter. MIL and WEF have 16 points with one game left. Both can reach 20 points if they win. Stay tuned as we bring you the presentations.
