MI New York jump to the second spot with this 5-run win on a pitch where stroke-making was tough. After 17 matches, five teams are on currently 6 points. LAKR are the only team on 4 points and they'll be keen to join the other teams. They'll be hosting TSK tomorrow. Don't forget to tune in for that. Until then, goodbye.
Nicholas Pooran | MI New York captain: Honestly, we spoke about it before the game, we knew it was going to be a dogfight. Today was all about being disciplined and staying consistently on that track. We knew what to expect, but we found ourselves in a situation where we didn't bat properly in that second half. (On the pitch) We still had something to defend. Based on the start that we got from Quinny, we knew if we could get a couple of wickets in the powerplay and stay disciplined, we had a chance. Obviously, the day was brilliant. (On the six hit off the first ball of the last over) I knew it was a matter of one wicket, the good thing is he had 15 runs to defend. That's Polly, things always happen when he's bowling. This isn't the first time he's bowled the last over. Last year in the same situation, Hetmyer hit a six (laughs). Tonight, he was in the same situation again, but the tables turned for us. We were very disciplined for a long period of time and obviously, things turned in our favor.
Romario Shepherd | MVP: (Two match-winning bowling spells, what has been the key ingredient?) Just keep it simple, try and hit the good length because the pitch is offering so much. All you have do is be disciplined on a good length and make the batters play. (On dismissing Hetmyer) It meant a bit extra because we all know how dangerous he is one of my best friends in cricket, so good to get him out. (On the tight finish) We know once we hit the right area, Stoin, one of the most dangerous hitter going around in the world, so to get him out at that stage was important. But Jasdeep came and played an unbelievable knock there. (Junior Shepherd here tonight, added motivation with the family around?) Yeah, it does, you want to perform in front of him because he's getting to know his cricket a bit. Disappointing with the bat, so I had to try and get something with the ball.
Marcus Stoinis | Seattle Orcas Captain -(On the target) We thought it was probably about par. We had our chances to restrict them, which we didn't take, which is fine. It's unfortunate. But we were reasonably happy. I think we squeezed them really well in that back 10 overs. (On the batting conditions) I thought the 40 overs were the toughest to bat. 'm not sure whether that's, yeah, that's definitely a bit of a fight, T20 cricket. (On the last 3 overs) Unfortunately, we reached a position where we needed to really hit some boundaries. And we did that and we got the game close. Jessy batted phenomenally, so good on him. But I think we just lost wickets consistently, and it's hard to start and score on that thing. So, it's a bit unfortunate.
22:10 Local Time, 05:10 GMT, 10:40 IST: Kieron Pollard punches the air and is pumped up and Pooran looks towards the sky as MI New York emerge victorious in this close encounter. Quinton de Kock top-scored with 61 but MINY lost their momentum in the second half of their innings to crawl their way to 132. In reply, Seattle Orcas never really got going. Lost a couple of wickets in the powerplay and didn't gain any sort of momentum throughout the innings as they kept losing wickets. Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers as he picked 3 wickets and Bosch bowled with good rhythm. It looked like Stoinis was fighting a lone battle. There was a sudden twist when Jasdeep Singh struck two fours and a six off Boult in the penultimate over. With 14 needed off the final over, Stoinis smashed the first ball for a six but a sharp catch from Romario brought about his downfall and the experienced Pollard held his nerve to defend the total.
