Bangladesh VS Zimbabwe - One-off Test
ZIM Inngs
Newman Nyamhuri to Khaled Ahmed, out Bowled!! Khaled Ahmed is the last man out. A pinpoint yorker by Newman Nyamhuri. Khaled Ahmed tries to whip it away, but gets outfoxed by this peach. The middle pole goes for a toss and Bangladesh have been cleaned up for 140. 8 wickets for 64 runs in that session in nearly 23 overs. Khaled Ahmed b Newman Nyamhuri 0(3)
Blessing Muzarabani to Hasan Mahmud, out Caught by Brian Bennett!! Nine down. Pitched up by Blessing Muzarabani around off, the ball nips away sharply as Hasan Mahmud goes for a flashy drive. The ball takes the outside edge and flies to gully, Bennett stationed there takes a sharp low catch, and Bangladesh are on the verge of getting bowled out. The Zimbabwean pacers continue to impress, and the catching has been top notch too. Hasan Mahmud c Brian Bennett b Blessing Muzarabani 0(3)
Newman Nyamhuri to Taijul Islam, out Caught by Tafadzwa Tsiga!! The procession of wickets continues. Make that six wickets in this session. Pitched up by Newman Nyamhuri outside off, hint of away swing, Taijul Islam goes for a flashy drive through the off-side and the outside edge has been taken by the keeper to his left. Got low and grabbed it. Newman Nyamhuri is happy as he has taken his third wicket of the innings. Bangladesh in danger of getting bowled out in this session itself. They are finding life difficult against the Zimbabwean bowlers. The ball is moving around, and the pacers are landing the ball in right areas. Taijul Islam c Tafadzwa Tsiga b Newman Nyamhuri 9(13) [4s-2]
Blessing Muzarabani to Amite Hasan, out Caught by Tafadzwa Tsiga!! Blessing Muzarabani gets his first wicket of the match. Not often do you see him wait for a such a long time to take a wicket. Irrespective of the format. Good length delivery outside off, kicks off the surface as Amite Hasan has a poke at it. Gets a regulation outside edge, and the keeper takes a comfortable catch behind the wickets. Zimbabwe on top as they have taken the fifth wicket of the session. This is bowling of the highest order by the Zimbabwean pacers. It has been a collapse since that dismissal of Mominul, earlier in this session. None of the batters have looked comfortable against the lanky pacers. Amite Hasan c Tafadzwa Tsiga b Blessing Muzarabani 4(15)
Richard Ngarava to Towhid Hridoy, out Caught by Tafadzwa Tsiga!! Edged and taken! Not great technique by Towhid Hridoy on that occasion. Got himself into a tangle, by shuffling across slightly. Tried to work it across the line, closed his bat in the process and the outside edge flies straight to the keeper, who takes a good low catch. Was pitched up by the bowler outside off, and he is absolutely delighted. Not a great Test debut for Towhid Hridoy who walks back early. Fourth wicket of the session for Zimbabwe. Towhid Hridoy c Tafadzwa Tsiga b Richard Ngarava 3(16)
Richard Ngarava to Mushfiqur, out Bowled!! The dropped catch hasn't cost much. That's a lovely yorker and Mushfiqur Rahim gets completely outfoxed. A toe crushing yorker by the pacer, it swung in sharply, and Mushfiqur Rahim couldn't read it. Tries to squeeze it out, but gets undone due to the late movement and finds his stump rattled. Richard Ngarava is pumped up, and Zimbabwe have taken the third wicket of the session. Bangladesh in a spot of bother as they have lost half their side. Mushfiqur b Richard Ngarava 9(21) [4s-2]
Brad Evans to Najmul Hossain Shanto, out Caught by Tafadzwa Tsiga!! An ugly slog and Shanto's troubled stay comes to an end - a nothing shot really, tried to attack Evans and chose the wrong option, danced down the pitch, swung across the line and gets a thin edge, just about carried to Tafadzwa Tsiga and the Zimbabweans wheel away in celebration. Shanto is absolutely livid with himself as he walks back to the pavilion. Zimbabwe have once again struck on the cusp of a drinks break. Najmul Hossain Shanto c Tafadzwa Tsiga b Brad Evans 19(73) [4s-2]
Newman Nyamhuri to Mominul, out Caught by Ervine!! Edged and caught! You can't say Nyamhuri didn't deserve it, he had Najmul Hossain Shanto all at sea, but it's Mominul who succumbs finally. Nice channel outside off, back of a length and leaving the left-hander, it's the extra bounce which undid Mominul here, was trying it ride it on the steer, gets a healthy edge instead and it's straight into the hands of Ervine at second slip. Mominul c Ervine b Newman Nyamhuri 60(81) [4s-12]
Brad Evans to Shadman Islam, out Caught by Ervine!! Edged and caught! Evans strikes in the first over and Zimbabwe have struck twice inside the first hour - lovely channel from the right-handed pacer, hits the deck around off and gets it to move away sharply - Shadman is drawn into the push, he perhaps didn't need to play at that, but he does so with hard hands. The extra bounce catches the edge and it flies to second slip - Ervine arches back, goes reverse cupped and holds onto a good catch. Bangladesh have lost both openers as the players take drinks on day 1. Shadman Islam c Ervine b Brad Evans 20(38) [4s-3]
Newman Nyamhuri to Mahmudul Hasan Joy, out Caught by Tafadzwa Tsiga!! Mahmudul Hasan Joy isn't happy, but we don't have DRS here and he'll have to go. Nyamhuri strikes in his first over, shortened the length and got it to nip back into the right-hander - Mahmudul was cut in half as he looked to cover the line with a hop, did the ball brush his glove on its way to the keeper? The umpire was sure, so were the Zimbabweans and Mahmudul will have to walk off. Mahmudul Hasan Joy c Tafadzwa Tsiga b Newman Nyamhuri 2(17)
BAN Inngs
Taijul Islam to Blessing Muzarabani, out Lbw!! Zimbabwe have been bowled OUT for 410 and Taijul Islam finishes with 7 wickets. Did it pitch in line with the stumps? Rashid Riaz certainly thought so and brings the Zimbabwean innings to closure. Bowled with a flatter trajectory - pitched and spun past Muzarabani's half-hearted poke, pinned on the back-pad and in front of middle, it was certainly crashing into the stumps. Blessing Muzarabani lbw b Taijul Islam 0(3)
Taijul Islam to Richard Ngarava, out Bowled!! The middle-stump is down and Taijul has his 6th wicket. Superb bowling since tea by the left-arm spinning - tossed up and spinning back into the left-hander, Ngarava slogs across the line and misses it completely. the middle stump is uprooted and the hosts have lost their 9th wicket. Richard Ngarava b Taijul Islam 3(11)
Taijul Islam to Newman Nyamhuri, out Caught by Towhid Hridoy!! 19th five-wicket haul for Taijul Islam, and also gets to 300 international wickets! Nyamhuri defends it with hard hands as the outside edge goes low to the second slip. The fielder dives low to his right and completes the catch. Newman Nyamhuri c Towhid Hridoy b Taijul Islam 0(11)
Taijul Islam to Brad Evans, out Lbw!! Was there some bat on it? Or was it sliding down leg? Looks like the latter, but it doesn't matter as the umpire raises his finger and Evans will have to walk back. He doesn't look happy with the decision. Plays this length ball outside leg on the back foot and gets hit on the pads. The ball didn't turn and kept going with the arm, but the umpire thought it would have gone to hit the leg stump and that's all what matters. Wicket No.4 for the left-arm spinner. Brad Evans lbw b Taijul Islam 4(10)
Taijul Islam to Ervine, out Caught by Hasan Mahmud!! Oh no, he has hit that straight to the fielder at deep backward square leg. A nothing delivery on the pads, very full and Ervine brings out the sweep shot, only to end up hitting it into the hands of the fielder. He looks disappointed, gets his head down and walks back to the pavilion. The 102-run stand has been broken as Taijul gets his third wicket. Ervine c Hasan Mahmud b Taijul Islam 60(100) [4s-6 6s-1]
Taijul Islam to Tafadzwa Tsiga, out Tafadzwa Tsiga Run Out!! What was that?! That's a terrible running and Zimbabwe have lost two wickets in the space of three balls. Tsiga was caught ball watching and will now have to walk back.Worked it to the mid-wicket area and Ervine wanted the second run. Tsiga responded late and was caught well short of the crease. Hasan Mahmud sent in a simple throw to the keeper and that was enough. Bangladesh are slowing making a comeback in the match. Tafadzwa Tsiga run out (Hasan Mahmud/Amite Hasan) 1(2)
Taijul Islam to Kaia, out Caught by Shadman Islam!! Gone straight to short cover! A stunning knock comes to an end, and it's the left-arm spinner who has struck again for Bangladesh. Islam gives it a lot of air as the ball drops on the middle stump, Kaia wanted to work it to the leg side, gets a leading edge as the ball balloons to the fielder at short cover. He makes no mistake and completes the catch. Goes 10 short of the 150-run mark, but what a knock by Kaia. Kaia c Shadman Islam b Taijul Islam 140(227) [4s-17]
Taijul Islam to Brian Bennett, out Caught&Bowled!! Stunning catch off his own bowling! Bennett shimmies down the track and gets to the pitch of the ball before tonking it straight to the bowler who takes a sharp catch to his left. Kept falling but made sure he completed the catch. The 107-run stand has been broken. Brian Bennett c and b Taijul Islam 59(67) [4s-9]
Khaled Ahmed to Brendan Taylor, out Caught by Amite Hasan!! Got him, there's the first wicket of the day! That's a peach of a delivery from Ahmed and Taylor couldn't have done much about that. He had to make him play and does exactly that. Hits the length hard and the ball angles in from over the wicket before shaping away enough from the surface to get the outside edge of the bat. Taylor couldn't leave this one and tried to put some bat to it, but ended up edging it to the keeper. Did try to take his bat out of the way but was too late by then. Didn't look convincing at all. Bangladesh have got the early wicket they needed. Brendan Taylor c Amite Hasan b Khaled Ahmed 17(54)
Khaled Ahmed to Ben Curran, out Caught by Najmul Hossain Shanto!! There it is. Bangladesh were looking for a breakthrough and they have got it in the form of Ben Curran. Khaled Ahmed set him up with a length delivery angling across. He got him beaten the previous delivery, but not this time. The line was closer to the off-stump making Curran play at it. The outside edge flies low to Najmul, who takes a good catch. Khaled Ahmed jumps and pumps in the air as he celebrates the wicket. Ben Curran c Najmul Hossain Shanto b Khaled Ahmed 42(51) [4s-5]
