Fast bowler Ashok Sharma has replaced Yudhvir Singh in the India A squad for the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday (June 16).
Yudhvir had reported discomfort in his right shoulder on a couple of occasions last week, once while bowling on June 13 and prior to that during a fielding session on June 11. As a result, the BCCI Medical Team has advised that Yudhvir undergo a graduated rehabilitation programme at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to recover completely from the right rotator cuff injury.
Ashok has had a meteoric rise in the last few months where he finished joint-highest wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before making his bow in the IPL for Gujarat Titans. He hit the headlines once during the tournament for delivering a pacy delivery clocked at 154.2 kmph, playing six games in total.
India A, led by Tilak Varma, have played three games so far in the tournament. After winning a tight encounter against hosts Sri Lanka A, India A lost to Afghanistan A in another close finish before succumbing to the hosts in a super over on Monday.
