Even as more details emerge about Monday's altercation involving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a few Sri Lanka A players, particularly Vishen Halambage, it has come to light that some senior Sri Lankan players have reached out to the Indian prodigy and expressed regret over the incident.

These Sri Lankans are not exactly the members of the Sri Lanka A side involved in the tri-series, but senior cricketers who know Sooryavanshi through their interactions and association with him in the IPL.

Cricketlineguruji had reported on Monday that some members of the Sri Lanka A team were of the view that the Sri Lankan camp should apologise to the Indian side. Whether such an apology has been conveyed remains unclear, but it is evident that many within the Sri Lankan setup were unhappy with the way events unfolded after the match in Dambulla on Monday evening.

The altercation and whether to apologise to the Indians was discussed in the Sri Lankan dressing room after the match on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that Halambage had been trying to get under Sooryavanshi's skin since the first game, which India won in a close finish on June 9. Sources privy to the developments have told Cricketlineguruji that Halambage repeatedly sledged the Indian opener during that match and continued doing so in the second game on Monday Morning, when India batted.

He continued the verbal assault when Sooryavanshi walked out to open in the controversial Super Over. Among other remarks, Halambage is understood to have told the Indian batter, "Go home, this is not the IPL," or words to that effect.

After the Super Over ended, Halambage allegedly charged towards Sooryavanshi and also advanced at Suryansh Shedge, the other Indian opener. At that point, Sooryavanshi retaliated before Niroshan Dickwella stepped in to defuse the situation.
