India have been dealt a blow ahead of the historic one-off Test against England at Lord's after Pratika Rawal got ruled out of the contest. Rawal sustained a cut on her knee during the second one-dayer and as a result, didn't feature in the final match of the series as well.
Priya Punia, who was a part of the India A squad in England, has been drafted in as Rawal's replacement. "Pratika Rawal has been ruled out of the Test match due to an injury she picked up during the A series. She got a cut on her knee which required some stitches. She's out for the Test and Priya Punia has been added to the squad," head coach Amol Muzumdar confirmed during a press conference.
While Rawal made her Test debut earlier this year at the WACA against Australia, Punia is still uncapped at the Test level. However, she is in form heading into this fixture having scored back-to-back half-centuries against England in the A series.
The latest injury is another setback for the 25-year-old who had missed the semifinal and the final of the ODI World Cup last year due to an injury. She didn't feature in the WPL as well, making her comeback in the ODIs in Australia.
