PLAYER OF THE MATCH
There's no change in the teams' positions in the points table but newcomers Rawalpindiz will be relieved to get off the mark. Islamabad United are positioned third but they still don't have a 'Q' next to their name. Six matches remain in the group stage and six teams are vying for the three remaining playoff spots. That's it from this game. There's one more PSL game today - Lahore Qalandars vs Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. We'll see you there.
Mohammad Rizwan | Rawalpindiz captain and Player of the Match (translated from Urdu): First of all, this win is for the Pindiz fans who kept supporting us. It’s hard to put into words, but we gave a strong effort, especially against a tough opposition. Credit definitely goes to our bowlers. The pitch was slightly better for the new ball, and the way Amir bowled along with Asif Afridi in the powerplay was excellent. We wanted to restrict them to a below-par score, and those 10-15 runs we saved made the difference, helping us win comfortably.
Shadab Khan | Islamabad United captain (translated from Urdu): In the first six overs, the things we had been doing well didn’t happen today. Because of that, we lost momentum in the first six overs as a batting unit. But obviously, we have to move on quickly, because the gap between matches is very short.
17:55 Local Time, 12:55 GMT, 18:25 IST: After eight straight losses, Rawalpindiz have registered their first PSL win! Mohammad Rizwan sports a beaming smile as the players exchange handshakes.Their bowlers set it up nicely by skittling Islamabad United out for 137. In reply, they lost a wicket off the very first ball. Kamran Ghulam joined Rizwan and the duo stitched a 78-run partnership with the former being the aggressor from the word go. It looked like they would cruise home comfortably. But Rawalpindiz stuttered a bit. Ghulam fell to a half-tracker from Green, Rizwan perished while trying to slogsweep Shadab and then Billings got run-out while backing up a long way. The asking rate went above 6 RPO and that's when the overseas duo of Mitchell and Forrester joined hands and ensured that there were no further hiccups in the run-chase. Mitchell went after Gleeson in the 17th over, hitting a six and four off successive deliveries. 17 runs came off that over to settle all the nerves in the Pindiz camp and then Forrester hit a couple of boundaries as Rawalpindiz crossed the winning line with 11 balls to spare. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff..
