A pretty historic day for Bangladesh. A fairytale comeback for Mosaddek Hossain, and the home pacers continued to impress, capping Bangladesh's first ever ODI win over Australia since that famous day in Cardiff in 2005. Another forgettable day for Australia, but they've no time to dwell on it; with a short turnaround, they will hope to come back hard in the next match on Thursday. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
Mehidy Hasan Miraz | Bangladesh Captain - We are very happy because of the way we batted and the way Shanto and Tamim batted. I'm really, really excited at that moment. (On the total) I think we can do better because of the way Shanto and Tamim batted. Unfortunately, we lost both batsmen (quickly), but the way Mosaddek and Taskin batted at the end felt really, really good at that time. Y(On Mossaddek) It's been difficult for Mosa because after a long time he came back and the way he shown his performance, it was excellent. And I think he needed to perform at that moment. And they showed that they have character. As a captain, I'm really, really happy, and we need to keep going and maintain the momentum.
Mosaddek Hossain is the Player of the Match
Josh Inglis | Australia Captain - (On conceding 284) A pretty disappointing total on our part. Obviously, we probably dropped four or five catches. And 284, if it was somewhere around 230 or 240, I thought it was very chaseable. But it was a disappointing day all around. (On Nathan Ellis) I thought Nathan was excellent again. I thought he performed very well in all three phases of the game. He used his change-ups and maneuvered his field well. He had a really good day out. (On the chase) The discussions were just playing cricket shots. I think it was a pretty good wicket out there. But obviously losing two really early doesn't help. And then we had guys get in throughout the innings, but no one really went on and put on a really big score. And we didn't have a really big partnership to sort of get us close. We have had a look at the conditions now, not great today, but we have another chance in a couple of days (On the next game).
20:05 Local Time, 14:05 GMT, 19:35 IST: The match has been called off and Bangladesh go 1-0 up in the 3-match ODI series. Chasing 285 was always tough, but Australia will be disappointed at not putting up a fight. Can they improve in two days time? Stay tuned for the post-match presentations..
19:27 Local Time, 13:27 GMT, 18:57 IST: It has started to rain and the ground is under covers. Has already been a long day with both teams being extremely slow in their overrates. Don't think we've enough time left. We're hearing that the umpires will take a call at 7:43 pm local. In case the match doesn't resume, Bangladesh will secure a win by 86 runs (DLS method)
19:05 Local Time, 13:05 GMT, 18:35 IST: Some lightning around and the players are off. This match was decided long time ago and only the formalities remain. Cameron Green made a half-century, but that's the only positive thing in this Australian batting. They've struggled with the bat on this trip to Asia and today was no different. Matt Short was castled first ball and the home team never let go of the advantage. Only three batters passed 20 and that's not enough when you're chasing 285. Nahid Rana was outstanding and he wrecked the Australian middle-order with a 4-wicket haul. A couple of chances missed, but this was as good as a complete performance from the hosts.
