PLAYER OF THE MATCH
PLAYER OF THE SERIES
This match went right down to the wire. Australia seemed to have the chase under control for much of the contest, but Shoriful Islam's sensational spell nearly turned the game on its head. In the end, the visitors held their nerve to secure a close win by 1 wicket and avoid a series whitewash after losing the opening two ODIs. The teams now head to Chattogram, where the focus shifts to the three-match T20I series. That's all from us for now. Thanks for joining and we'll be back with all the action from the shortest format. Goodbye and take care!
Najmul Hossain Shanto lifts the trophy as Bangladesh celebrate a memorable series triumph. The captain is joined by his teammates for the customary photographs, with wide smiles and the winners' board proudly on display.
Najmul Hossain Shanto | Bangladesh captain: Very happy. I think the way we played last three matches, I'm really proud of the boys and especially today, the way we played, especially the last few overs, came back strongly. That's what we need, that character in the field. Everyone believed that we can come back anytime. So, really happy the way we played. (Still felt that maybe a few runs could have been scored more?) I think 275, brilliant score. I think the way Hridoy and Mosaddek batted, really happy to see. But in the middle overs, if you look at our spinners didn't get enough wickets. So that cost us the match today, but it can happen in cricket. But the way Shoriful bowled with the new ball and the middle overs and the last few overs, it was nice to see. And then he showed a lot of character, not playing the last two matches and coming back this one. And it's not easy, but the way he bowled, really happy to see. And then I hope he will continue his bowling. (Given an opportunity to Shoriful Islam and to see what he did, it is magnificent for Bangladesh?) Yeah, very happy. I think that's what we need as bowling unit. If you look at Taskin, Mustafizur, and there are some bowlers also on the bench. They worked really hard last few years. I think they had a very healthy competition in the dressing room. So that's why we got the result. But again, we need to improve a lot of areas, still I can believe.
Towhid Hridoy | Most valuable Bangladesh Player of the Series: I'm so happy. (You must be very happy and pleased?) Yep. Just when I batted, I wanted to contribute to my team and I tried to execute my plan. (Tell us a little bit about the pitch?) To be very honest, the wicket was very good, a sporting wicket and we hope this kind of wicket will face again. If we want to perform on higher level, we should play on this kind of wicket. So we are looking to this kind of wicket and hopefully we are doing better day by day.
Mosaddek Hossain | Player of the Series: Yeah, I was waiting for the opportunity, and I felt this is the privilege for me. After so long time, I came back here performing for the team. It's been a privilege. (You thought maybe perhaps 15, 20 runs short?) Yeah, I felt only short by 15-20 runs, and end of the day, they batted really well.
Cooper Connolly | Player of the Match: Yeah, it's quite nice to get over the line there. I was a little bit nervous, was backing Zampa and and Riley to get us over the line, but yeah, it's nice to have a win. (You seem to enjoy your role as an opener with that kind of innings that you did?) Yeah, it's definitely satisfying, but obviously there's two world-class players at the top in Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Unfortunately, they weren't available. But yeah, it was nice to get the opportunity at the top and make the most of it. But yeah, I just like to keep my options open. (Was that planned to go and attack and take them off to the line and length earlier on?) No, not necessarily. I think it's just the way myself and Josh play. We like to be aggressive. We like to sort of take the game on and just play good cricket shots. And yeah, I think the wicket allowed that. There's obviously some nice conditions for the bowlers early, but yeah, I think the way me and Inglis tried to sort of counterpunch and score freely. Yeah, we got a couple of loose balls and we made sure to put them under pressure when the opportunity came. (When did you especially start to believe that the chase was on?) Always, from the start. You always have that confidence in this team to chase anything down and defend anything. So yeah, I think from the start, I always felt like we were going to get there.
Josh Inglis | Australia captain: (You must be very pleased?) Yeah, very pleased. It was quite nervy sat in the change rooms there for the last 20 minutes or so, but no, it was nice to get over the line. (275 was the target. Did you have that belief to chase it down?) Yeah, we definitely did. It was a very good surface. It felt really nice in the power play. And then we all saw one of the great knocks going around. I think really special from Connolly, what he did tonight. He kept us in the game throughout. I thought he was really calm the way he managed those middle overs and the partnership throughout. And yeah, Zampa and Riley got us over the line at the end. (What was going through your mind there, everyone was at the edge?) Yeah, a bit of the same. I was like, oh, please, let us win one. It's been a tough series for us. Bangladesh have played outstandingly well here. So it was nice to get a win tonight. (It was a contribution right at the top of the order) Yeah, absolutely. I think we saw how much he (Connolly) was cramping throughout his innings. And I think the way he managed that was really good. He scored quickly, so it brought us some time at the back end there when we were losing wickets. But I think obviously an outstanding knock. But I think we had more partnerships through the middle order today. I think we had three 60 plus run partnerships. So it put us in a better position to chase the total. (Connolly looks a solid opener right at the top of the order) Yeah, absolutely. He's a great ball striker. He's very versatile. He can bat from 1 to 7 and we've seen him do that. But I think the way we've seen him play today, he looks very good at the top.
19:45 Local Time, 13:45 GMT, 19:15 IST: Australia have signed off the ODI series with a victory, denying Bangladesh a clean sweep after the hosts had taken the first two rain-affected encounters. Earlier, Bangladesh posted a competitive 274 due to the valuable contributions from Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy and Mosaddek Hossain. Chasing the target, Australia's openers provided a brisk start, but the innings lost some momentum once the stand was broken. Josh Inglis and Matthew Renshaw fell in quick succession, while Alex Carey was unable to make a significant contribution. The recovery came through a crucial partnership between Cooper Connolly and Marnus Labuschagne, which steadied the chase, before Cameron Green added further support. Even as wickets continued to fall at the other end, Connolly remained unfazed, regularly finding the boundary and keeping Australia firmly on course. He departed in the 49th over, but Zampa eventually took Australia over the line with a sweet cover drive. Despite Shoriful Islam's outstanding spell and relentless effort with the ball, Connolly's brilliant hundred proved decisive and eclipsed his performance. Stay tuned for the presentations..

Taskin Ahmed to Adam Zampa, FOUR, Adam Zampa hits the winning runs! Australia deny Bangladesh a clean sweep. Pitched up by the bowler outside off, a slower delivery, Cooper Connolly goes for a flashy drive and gets an inside edge onto the stumps. From 266/5, Australia have collapsed to 271/9. Unbelievable!
