PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's all we have for you from here; we hope you enjoyed our coverage. Do join us for the second T20I on the 19th of June. Until then, you can hop over to our other tabs, where plenty of action is happening. Goodbye from all of us!
Mitchell Marsh | Australia captain: It’s always nice to start the series with a win, it’s a good start from the boys. (On their spinners taking 9 of the 10 wickets) We were probably a little surprised by the lack of pace and bounce in the wicket. But I thought we picked a really well-rounded team that could adapt to those conditions. We had plenty of bowling options to cover different situations. The two debutants chipped in with some really nice bowling as well. Overall, it was a very good performance on what could have been a tricky chase. (On Cooper Connolly's good form) Yes, it's great. He's had a pretty busy international schedule over the last 12 months, and he's only going to keep growing and improving as he becomes more comfortable at this level. It was great to see him bat like that on what was a reasonably tricky batting wicket. I'm really happy for him.
Adam Zampa | Player of the Match: (On becoming the first Australian to take 150 T20I wickets)It feels good. It means I've been around for a long time. It's obviously a proud achievement, especially in a game like this. We've had a tough time in the ODIs, and to have a couple of young guys come in - Joel Davies and Nikhil Chaudhary - and look completely at home in the team feels great. (On whether there was assistance from the surface from the very first over?) The information we got during the powerplay was that the quick bowlers were getting a little bit of assistance from the wicket. It was difficult to hit through the line and clear the fielders. I took that information and tried to use it to my advantage. The wicket was a bit dull and low. There wasn't a lot of spin, but it felt difficult to hit the ball over the fence. (Was the ball coming out nicely from his hand?) Yeah, not too bad.
Towhid Hridoy | Stand-in Bangladesh captain: As we all know, we failed as a batting unit today. Hopefully, we'll learn from our mistakes and come back stronger in the next match. (On their batting looking rusty today) Yes, we lost back-to-back wickets in the middle overs and couldn't build a partnership. But as I mentioned earlier, hopefully we'll overcome that, Inshallah. (On whether it was a slow surface?) No, it was pretty good to bat on. (On posting 131 on the board) As a batting unit, we should have scored at least 160-170. But as a bowling unit, the bowlers always put in the effort and keep fighting in every series and every match.
17:24 Local Time, 11:24 GMT, 16:54 IST: Australia finally romped home with four wickets to spare. They got off to a great start with Connolly firing on all cylinders. However, they lost their way slightly in the middle, with a few of the batters throwing their wickets away. Renshaw, in particular, struggled to time the ball, especially against the spinners. The Bangladeshi spinners stemmed the run flow in the middle, but with such a small total on the board, defending was always going to be difficult. Saqlain had a good outing with 2 wickets, but he leaked too may runs. Australia take a 1-0 lead in this 3-match T20I series. Stay tuned for the presentations...

Abdul Gaffar Saqlain to Xavier Bartlett, FOUR, he's finished it for his team! Back of a length delivery outside off, Bartlett goes back and punches it between extra cover and mid off. The fielder chases it, but gives up midway as the ball trickles near the ropes. Australia win this by 4 wickets

Back of a length and angling in, Renshaw gives him the charge, looks like the ball stopped on him and he tamely chips it towards short midwicket, where Saif dives to his left and takes a sharp catch.
