(2/2): (Asked about TSK's batting) Yeah, I think what’s really important when you go through the stages of the tournament is that you feel that your batting lineup can have different guys contributing at different stages. Because the feeling that you want in the group is that you don’t rely on one or two guys’ form and if they get out, the dressing room feels the negativity of that. So for me, it’s just crucial in games like this that, you get guys like Sai(Teja Mukkamalla) today just playing his 30. On today’s wicket, that’s a 50 and a 60. Milind's 20 today was a beautiful knock, composed. So for me, it’s the confidence in the batting lineup that’s really important. (Talking about his fielding) Yeah, the previous game was a game where I was actually trying to take it really easy. I had a really stiff back the last couple of days. So I was trying to find positions in the field that I normally wouldn’t, but as I said to the physio, if you put me on the field, if there’s a ball in the air, I’m always going to dive. So I don’t know any different. But as I saw that ball in the air, in my mind, it was, you’re going to have to throw yourself around. But I love, I love catching the ball.
Faf du Plessis | TSK captain (1/2): (Asked about 5-5 record in the Coliseum) I don’t know. Look, it’s obviously, I think, just a confidence of a method that you’re trying to at every ground that you play, trying to understand what’s the right length to bowl and what method to bat. But yeah, today was obviously nice knowing what score we needed to chase. It’s definitely not a 180 wicket, that. So that always helps. (Asked about his bowling unit) Yeah, look, I think when you’re looking at the different venues around the country, every one of them creates unique opportunities and different ways of tactically going about it. This wicket last year, we felt spinners weren’t as much in the game. Obviously today it did spin, but it was because it was a bit more tacky and that’s why I felt early doors, throwing the ball to Donovan (Ferreira). Normally if it’s a wicket, if it’s a bit tacky, almost like in the CPL, then the 10 o’clock games, it will spin and it was the perfect wicket for him to come in and bowl to all the lefties.
Donovan Ferreira | Player of the match: I mean, we haven’t really been practicing much over here, but I think, when you get a chance, I bowl quite a lot and bat in the nets as well. I don’t do too much keeping work. I think, I just back my hands when I’m keeping. So, catch them in the warm-up and then try to go from there. (Talking about Pooran and Pollard's wickets) Well, obviously the wicket assisted me a lot. It was spinning and stopping a lot. So, against Nicholas Pooran, I was just trying to bowl nice and straight, get the stumps in play and then Polly, I was just trying to bowl full, and then it just luckily spun and he hit it straight down long-on’s throat. So, good for me. (Talks about his celebration after getting Pooran) I mean, if he scores 50 and he celebrates like that to us, I thought I’d just return the favour when I got him out over there. So, yeah, that’s just part of the game. I love it. (Asked about his batting) Yeah, I mean, I always want to put the team first, so do what the team requires and the wickets haven’t been as easy. So, it’s important for me to try to take it deep and really be crucial. Like, my thinking process, be nice and clear in terms of which balls I want to hit for six and take on overs when there’s a match-up on my side. But I think with tough wickets, it’s really tough. So, we’re not going to get big scores on this ground. So it’s important to just assess every time and get the team over the line.
Nicholas Pooran | MINY captain: I think we’re short by 10, 15 runs. But in saying that, that partnership in the end there gave us a chance. That’s most important for us. The guys came out and they bowled brilliantly, kept us in the game till obviously the last over of the game there. So, well done to the guys. Great effort. Obviously losing the toss this morning, coming from Dallas into this tricky condition. But obviously we have to set our plan now. (Did anything change in the 2nd innings?) It didn’t change too much. First half, obviously a lot of clouds around. No sun this morning, so there’s a lot of moisture and losing too much wickets in the powerplay there. We felt like we could rotate the strike much, we can hit fours. We felt like we had to use our power base and obviously that didn’t work. But again, we’re really grateful that we got 127 and bowlers gave us a chance. That shows the character of the team and obviously we fight till the end and everybody knows, what type of team we are. I mean, I felt like we bowled well. Obviously we didn’t get wickets. Credit to their batsmen. They stuck it out as well. Riley and Milind there in that partnership. They didn’t allow us to get into the game by taking wickets. So well done to them. But again, at the end of the day, we did what we had to do when it comes to the bowling department, which is just try to stay disciplined and consistent as we can and again, who knows? In hindsight, if we scored 10 runs, we would have won this game.
17:53 Local Time, 00:53 GMT, 06:23 IST: Texas Super Kings have overcame a challenging, tricky pitch to claim a hard-fought victory. The chase didn't start well as TSK lost their captain, Faf very early in the innings. Sai Mukkamalla steadied the ship with a run a ball 38 to keep the scoreboard moving. Milind Kumar then joined Rilee Rossouw to stitch together a crucial 28-run partnership before Milind unfortunately fell short of his crease and was run out. The opposition bowlers built immense pressure through most of the innings, with exceptional spells from Rushil Ugarkar (4-0-16-2) and Corbin Bosch starving TSK batters for boundaries. However, Donovan Ferreira turned the tide by launching a massive six off Trent Boult to bring the required run rate back down to a run a ball, before smashing another six in Bosch's final over to leave TSK needing just 8 runs from the last 12 deliveries. Mulder then finished the game in style with a final six to seal the win. They now maintain a perfect 5-5 win record here in Oakland Coliseum. Stay tuned as we bring you the presentations.
