PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Punjab Kings remain at the top of the table despite this defeat, but the gap between them and the chasing pack is beginning to lessen. In fact, there are now four teams tied on 12 points from second to fifth. Gujarat Titans are starting to gather momentum at just the right time, much like a few other sides in the middle of the table. One team desperately searching for momentum though is Mumbai Indians, who are in action tomorrow against Lucknow Super Giants. Two teams at the bottom and both trying to revive their campaigns and force their way back into the tournament. It promises to be a fascinating contest. Do join us for that. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..
Jason Holder | Player of the Match: They were excellent. They set the tone for us all season. Credit to both Siraj and KG. Their efforts have been outstanding. Even though sometimes they may go for runs, they come back and take wickets which is crucial in the powerplay. Makes my job easier in the middle after the tone has been set, but having said that I still need to come and execute. The main thing is to keep the pressure on.. if you're not getting wickets, keep the pressure on and bowl your best deliveries, stem the flow of runs and ensure you make it difficult for them to score. Have talked a lot in the dressing room about what we wanted to do, how we want to adjust in certain situations and the boys have been doing an excellent job. Fair to say that (focussing a lot on T20 cricket in the last year), last year and a half I have only played T20 cricket, haven't played Test cricket, I would still love to play Tests and haven't closed that chapter yet. Just been able to focus on T20 which has helped my game a lot. Have been able to be a lot more specific with my training and preparation. Just ensuring that I'm ready for each and every scenario. Just executing when called upon, little disappointed that I could not finish the last two games. Still in a good frame of mind. That's important for me. Just keeping a fresh mind, staying positive, understanding my role and just trying to execute when called upon. With the ball it's just about trying to make an impact, trying to execute as well as I can under pressure. So far it has been going well.
Shubman Gill | GT captain: I think in chases like these, we would have liked to not take it as deep as it went but two crucial points. This is not the kind of wicket where we'll chase in 15-16 overs. So we thought maybe one over before or a couple of overs before. That was the talk. If someone is set they should go deep because it's not easy to hit from ball 1. Length balls weren't coming the way they do on other wickets. It was important for the batsman who is set.. luckily we had Washi and he finished the game for us. Just sent the best batter that we thought in that situation (about sending left-handers one after the other).

Washington Sundar: Had to be calculative on that wicket. Can't really get boundaries off hard length balls. Was trying to play good shots, play the field and get boundaries every now and then. Glad that everything worked out. He bats really well (Arshad), hits those long balls every now and then. Was asking him to enjoy the moment, to be calm and back his strengths. The boundary he hit earlier in the over was crucial and everything worked out. I was just focused on what I could do whenever I got the chance. Was important to build those partnerships and they didn't have off-spinners as well (when asked about having a lot of left-handers in the lineup).
Shreyas Iyer | PBKS captain: I personally feel it was a great score on a wicket where the ball was doing a bit at the start, especially the new ball. Their bowlers made the best use of the surface - the way they were hitting the lengths and the deck. It was right at the stumps and not giving us much options to open our arms and score runs. We lost four wickets I assume in the powerplay. To get to 160 from there was a phenomenal effort. With the new ball I thought we would be able to hit our line and length and get early wickets. But that didn't work out. But the way we fought till the end, kudos to the efforts. The attitude and approach was excellent. We missed out on hitting the hard lengths. Hitting over midwicket or pull shot wasn't easy on this wicket because there was variable bounce. Wasn't an apt wicket to bat on. In terms of execution we fell a bit short. We're still on top of the table which is what matters. We'll take positives from this game. It's a great challenge going forward in the IPL (playing on such pitches) because it tends to bring up the attitude of the bowlers as well. It can level up their confidence, especially after being hit for 50-60 odd runs in the previous game and then coming here and bowling excellent overs. We wanted to win but it didn't click. Excited for the opportunity (playing against SRH), want to get that two points. Have been working very hard in training. The boys have been putting in hard yards. That's what matters - what you do off the field. If the character is high and attitude is right, you'll get results eventually. Just got to stick to our basics and routines and not think too much ahead.
23:22 Local Time, 17:52 GMT: Phew! That was an absolute nail-biter and it is Gujarat Titans who hold their nerve to make it three wins on the bounce. The chase kept swinging both ways with Punjab Kings fighting back every time the Titans looked ready to pull away. In the end, Gujarat needed 11 off the final over and the pair of Washington and Arshad Khan calmly took them home with a ball to spare. It wasn’t the smoothest of starts for Gujarat as Gill departed in just the second over. Sai Sudharsan and Buttler then stitched together a steady 50-plus partnership, but they never quite managed to completely take the game away from Punjab. When Sudharsan fell soon after bringing up another half-century, with around 40 still needed, the contest felt perfectly balanced. But Washington kept finding timely boundaries and ensured the required rate never spiralled out of control. Fittingly, it was he who sealed the win with a six. It may be back-to-back defeats now for Punjab Kings, but they pushed Gujarat all the way and very nearly pulled off an outstanding comeback victory. Presentations coming up shortly..

Marcus Stoinis to Washington Sundar, SIX, Gujarat Titans win by 4 wickets. They hold their nerve and seal the victory with a ball to spare. Stoinis goes for the yorker and does not quite nail it this time. It is a juicy full toss, Washington premeditated the scoop and gets it high on the bat, but enough for the ball to sail over the rope at deep backward square

Marcus Stoinis to Arshad Khan, 1 run, ufff! What a ball! Stoinis could not have nailed the yorker any better. Arshad jams it onto his right boot and the ball rolls down the pitch. Washington calls him across and Stoinis picks up the ball, takes aim and does not hit the target at the non-striker's end. Direct hit might have had Arshad. 3 off 2
19.3
Marcus Stoinis to Arshad Khan, no run, short and outside off, Arshad throws the kitchen sink on the slash and misses. That's a dot. 4 off 3
19.2
Marcus Stoinis to Arshad Khan, 2 runs, just short of Shedge. Full delivery outside leg, Arshad flicks it with a strong bottom hand backward of square. The ball was in the air and Shedge sprinted to his left, dived and the ball landed just in front of him. 4 from 4

Marcus Stoinis to Arshad Khan, FOUR, that's unlucky for Stoinis. He nails the yorker around leg-stump, Arshad clears his front leg and squeezes it off the inside-edge backward of square. The ball had enough to trickle into the rope. 6 from 5

Marcus Stoinis to Arshad Khan, wide, slower bouncer, but too short and well over Arshad, he watches it sail over him and umpire signals wide for height

11 from the last over. How did Gujarat Titans bring the game to this? Anyway this will go down the wire. Stoinis is going to bowl. Early in the season, Gujarat Titans failed to chase 11 against Rajasthan Royals. Tushar Deshpande was the bowler that day with Rashid and Rabada in the middle. What can Arshad and Washington do? Here we go..
