Mohammed Siraj has been rested for the upcoming T20I tours to Ireland and England, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday (June 9). The decision has been taken in order to manage Siraj's workload ahead of an intense schedule for the national side. Prasidh Krishna has been named as his replacement in the 15-man squad for both tours.
"Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the team management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme," the BCCI said in a statement. "The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season."
While Prasidh featured 12 times in the recently-concluded IPL, Siraj played all 17 games for the same franchise, Gujarat Titans, picking up 19 wickets. Both players were a part of the Indian Test XI that hammered Afghanistan in the one-off Test in Mullanpur that concluded on Monday.
Prasidh has played only five T20 games for India, all in 2023. Even though he won the purple cap in IPL 2025, the fast bowler was not part of the Indian squad that won the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
India will play two T20Is in Ireland on June 26 and 28 prior to the England tour where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs.
