West Indies have been fined 10% of their match fee and docked two World Test Championship (WTC) points for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second Test against Sri Lanka in North Sound, Antigua.

The sanction was imposed by ICC match referee Javagal Srinath after the hosts were found to be two overs short of the required rate once time allowances had been taken into account.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over their side falls short, while Article 16.11.2 of the WTC playing conditions mandates the deduction of one championship point for each over short. As a result, West Indies lost two WTC points.

Captain Roston Chase accepted the offence and the proposed sanction, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Ahsan Raza, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Deighton Buttler.
