IND
189/7(20)
20:17 Local Time, 19:17 GMT, 00:47 IST: The match has been abandoned. Cut off time was in another 45 minutes but they don't have enough time to get the ground ready. A pity because it would've been a very interesting chase after a competitive score on the board from India. But you can't fight the weather. So that's all we have from this one. The teams will head to Manchester for the second T20I on Saturday. Until next time, it's goodbye!

20:07 Local Time, 19:07 GMT, 00:37 IST: No activity in the middle from the groundstaff. Covers are firmly in place. Rain has reduced in intensity but it's still coming down.
England’s target (different scenarios):
19 overs - 183
18 overs - 176
17 overs - 169
16 overs - 162
15 overs - 154
19:50 Local Time, 18:50 GMT, 00:20 IST: Still raining and looks quite steady. We'll be losing a good chunk of overs, if at all the match resumes. It was raining right through the first innings, and they still played through it. But once the covers are on and there's a break, you probably have to wait till it stops before you get back.
Official update: We will start losing overs from 19:53 local (12:23 AM IST). For a five over game the target is 64 - and we will have to start the game by 21:00 local for that to happen.
19:35 local, 18:35 GMT, 00:05 IST: Nothing has changed. It is steady enough to make us play the waiting game and the groundstaff are patinently hoping for things to clear.
Abinash Das: When you look at how the momentum swung back and forth, both teams actually did decently well here. India didn't let those two early wickets trigger a collapse, and England didn't let India's counterattack completely run away with the game. It sets things up beautifully.
19:21 local, 18:21 GMT, 23:51 IST: It has been raining steadily at the moment and "even if it stops raining, it might take a while for us to get back on the field" informs Ian Ward on air. Let's hope it clears up soon as we have an extra half hour (before reducing overs) in hand. As of now, the bowler run-ups and the square has been covered.

Spin: 1/95 in 10 overs, ER: 9.5
19:14 local, 18:14 GMT, 23:44 IST: With steady rain combined with gloomy skies a constant spectator, India did well to post just above the average score here. And just as I type, the groundstaff are covering the square. It was a story of two halves in the powerplay where India lost 2 for 15 in the first 3, and then to blaze 46 off the next 3 courtesy fierce ball-striking from Abhishek Sharma. He was trapped in front after his fifty and his wicket allowed England to pull things back a touch either side of the 10th over mark. Skipper Shreyas Iyer took his time at the start and managed to compile a crucial fifty. His knock would have been futile if it wasn't for Dube's 21-ball 42 late blitz. It has proven difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball and Indian spinners, one would assume, will have a tough time in the second essay. That said, the pacers found some reverse during the slog overs. Let's see how things roll after the break...

Sam Curran to Axar Patel, out Axar Patel Run Out!! oh dear! Slower length delivery dished wide of off stump. Axar assumed it to be a wide and shouldered arms at it. The ball, however, travelled well inside the crease line and in the end it turned out to be run-out. Buttler missed the target, but Curran had enough time to collect the ball and catch Axar well short of his crease at the bowling end. Axar Patel run out (Jos Buttler/Sam Curran) 3(4)
Sam Curran to Axar Patel, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!

Sam Curran to Shivam Dube, 1 run, 130ks full and wide of off, Dube loses shape trying to drill that to long-off - a single is all he will get

Sam Curran to Shivam Dube, SIX, 131ks hit-me short ball outside off, Dube swivels and smokes the pull deep into the stands over square leg

Sam Curran to Axar Patel, 1 run, good length on off, Axar heaves it into the mid-wicket pocket
19.2
Sam Curran to Shivam Dube, 1 run, dropped! That was a high ball and whether rain drops played a part or not, only Buttler will know. High full toss on the stumps and Dube slogged it high into the gloomy skies - only for the keeper to run across to square leg and shell it on the dive

Sam Curran to Axar Patel, 1 run, 128ks full ball angled in at the stumps, Axar biffs the drive to long-off and offers the strike to the red-hot Shivam Dube

Adil Rashid to Shivam Dube, FOUR, excellent placement from Shivam Dube. Slower and fuller googly outside off, Dube stays leg-side of the delivery and blazes the drive all along the ground through extra cover
100th dismissals for Jos Buttler as wicketkeeper in T20Is. Only second after Quinton de Kock (117) in this format.
