PLAYER OF THE SERIES
So that's a wrap from this series. Next up are the ODIs, with the first one kicking off on Tuesday at Edgbaston. Until then, it's a goodbye from Sagar Chawla on behalf of Siva and Nikhil Jadhav!
England go No.1 in the world, and seem to be doing special things under Harry Brook in the shortest format. Bit of a change in mood for them after the events at Trent Bridge in whites. India will be hoping for a change in mood once the ODIs begin. But for now there are plenty of lessons. Most of the talk around their camp has been about the need to adjust to conditions when they travel overseas. Bowling, fielding, batting - lots of work to do in all departments. Some of their selection calls have raised question marks too. Samson left out after three failures, and then the same treatment for Sooryavanshi today. The bowling has looked ordinary at times, with the absence of Bumrah and Hardik being deeply felt. Let's see what they can take from this moving forward.
Harry Brook | England captain: (Outstanding partnership today, the two Bs (Buttler and Brook?) Yeah, we had a lot of fun out there. We bounced off each other, we ran well, and we hit plenty of boundaries. So, yeah, it was good fun batting with Jos. (Do you compete with each other?) Not really, no. We were just trying to get ourselves in the best position that we could to defend a big total in the end. And we batted really well together. (Just seeing your shot selection right from the outset. Pure cricketing shots, very clear in your mindset?) Yeah, cricket is such a simple game. We make it so complicated. And I just wanted to stand there and watch the ball as closely as I could and just play the shot which that ball deserved, really. (What are the biggest positives to have come out first for you as a batsman and then as a team?) I'm striking the ball nicely. I feel like I'm in a good place in my game. But we've managed to get ourselves to world number one, which was an aim after the second game, having found out that we needed to win the next two games to top the charts. So, we're extremely happy with that. All the boys are delighted. And we deserve a little bit of a celebration. (Spin has been one area, you believe in?) Yeah, I think you have to create so much more pace on the ball to hit it out of the park. And we've got some extremely skillful spinners in there as well with a lot of nous and ability to make the batters think as well. And throughout my captaincy so far, we have bowled a lot of spin and they've been exceptional. (Fixed game plan in power play when you bowled, and the execution was spot on?) Yeah, and it all comes down to the communication, really. We've communicated really well throughout this series in the last six to eight, 12 months. And with the ball, we've just executed extremely well.
Shreyas Iyer | India captain: (What do you take out from the series first of all?) There's a lot to take out, honestly speaking. Firstly, the conditions, the awareness, the adaptation to the wickets. I feel that every ground we played at, this was probably the best wicket we played on so far. So you saw even when we batted today, the approach was completely different. And it's all about adaptation, I feel. The conditions changed, kept changing right from match one. But yeah, as professionals, we need to learn and be aware of all these conditions. (What would you say are the main learnings to come out?) Absolutely. I feel that it's important that we communicate as much as possible that what we could have done better over here, especially. And you see, fielding plays a key role in winning matches. So that is one aspect we need to work on hardly. And especially when you come in overseas conditions, the dimensions of the ground is completely different. So the quicker you adapt, the better. (Choice of deliveries at certain stages could have been better?) Yes, absolutely. I feel that especially on this track where it was a belter, we could have probably bluffed, you know, honestly speaking. But also we dropped a couple of catches which probably cost us a bit in the total. And we would have been chasing around 220 to 225. That would have been probably one of the best chases we could have done. But unfortunate that we didn't get that opportunity. But hopefully as we mentioned earlier, great learning. (Too many wickets going in powerplay that cost you dearly?) Absolutely, we lost in cluster. And rather than making partnerships, we were going after the chase, which is not particularly you can go on these wickets. I think you need to probably have that sort of awareness that okay, the wicket is playing in such a way. So take some time, target your particular bowlers. And I felt that their execution in bowling were spot on. And they've played a lot of cricket over here. So definitely I'm sure that they were on top of their mark. (That kind of partnership [Butller-Brook] makes it very difficult for a captain?) Yes, I think it was sensational batting by Buttler. And then Harry came in and he changed the momentum towards them. So that partnership definitely steadied the ship for them. And we dropped a couple of catches. I think that could have changed the rhythm of the game. But nonetheless, great learning. And I'm sure that boys would be aware next time when they come here.
Jos Buttler | Player of the Match: Yeah, obviously delighted. Been a little bit of a lean patch as well for a while, so yeah, really happy to get back to my best and obviously contribute to a brilliant series win. (Did you feel it was a lean patch or did you feel you were due?) I always feel due. More so just the World Cup, really, and being back in this shirt and wanting to contribute. The IPL I played well, I felt good about my game, but something different coming back into an England shirt and really wanted to contribute. So today's a great day for me personally, but a brilliant day for the team. (What was the switch in mindset?) Yeah, I was trying. Harry's just an incredible player. It was great to be at the other end and watch him put so much pressure on the bowlers. And just found my form, didn't fight it too much. And it was great to spend a lot of time with him in the middle and build that partnership. (You maintained your shape. You weren't falling over. Hence, the fluency came right back?) Yeah, absolutely. You've got to give yourself that time and that belief and trust in your game. And I think that's the kind of things I've leaned into the most today, really, is just backing myself and just trusting it. (Did you think 280, 290 or even 300 was possible?) Yeah, as many as possible. Obviously, it was a brilliant batting surface. You also get a lot of twos on this ground, which can lead to some big overs because the wicket's true and the outfield's fast, so you get the boundaries. And yeah, as many as possible. And we needed them as well. We needed as many runs as possible. But most of all, a great team performance. And to win 4-0 against India is a fantastic achievement. (Great team performance and a great batting performance by the top order?) Yeah, absolutely. I think throughout the series, there's been different players obviously making some great contributions. I think bat, ball, in the field. It's been a really complete performance. And I think which is probably the most pleasing thing for the guys.

18:44 Local Time, 17:44 GMT, 23:14 IST: Calling it a series to forget would be an understatement. The whole tour, in fact. Six matches, six losses and Iyer is yet to open his account after taking over the captaincy. Today was just another hammering. India were long done with the last few weeks coming into this one, but Jos Buttler and Harry Brook had one last sendoff lying in wait. A record 233-run stand to knock the stuffing out of them for good measure. India did show some fight in the chase but they were always up against the rate and never really threatened to get close. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma played well for their fifties. But not much else to take from this. Stay tuned, we'll have the presentations.

Adil Rashid to Arshdeep Singh, 1 run, and that brings an end to a tour that has come straight out of a nightmare for Shreyas Iyer and his team. Blanked by Ireland and now by England. The world champions thoroughly outplayed by England who take over as the newly ranked No.1 T20I team in the world. Slower dipping leg-break, Arshdeep steps out to slog and drags it through square leg. A lifeless shot to round off a largely lifeless contest once England were done with their batting innings
