PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's it from this contest. You can now switch tabs and catch all the live action between Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings.
Nicholas Pooran | Player of the Match: Basically, that was the plan. Get set, I take responsibility. That's something we spoke about. And obviously, knowing the conditions as well, getting the opportunity to bat, we had to take responsibility once we get that start. (Did you always feel as though that total was going to be enough on what looked like a surface that wasn't the easiest?) In hindsight, yes. We felt obviously KKR is a powerful batting lineup. But we felt like that pitch was always going to be challenging. And we knew the power play was really important. But it felt like if we can keep it really tight in the power play, then we have a chance in the game. And kudos to the bowlers who bowled in the power play. I felt like they were exceptional. Although we didn't get wickets there, they were really disciplined. Yeah, I mean, they performed to take wickets, right? But it's nice to see that that run out done there, acknowledging and recognizing important winning moments in the game. And I felt like that was one. And then Nosh and Romario came and the bowling tandem in that partnership. And they were exceptional. And it showed if you can stay disciplined and consistent for a long period of time, we can be successful. And not only both of them, but the way Bosch came and bowled there in the back end, getting that two wickets in that over of Russell and Jason. Everyone understood the agenda. We stick to the script and we gave ourselves a chance to win at the end. We won the game. So brilliant team effort. That's exactly what you want from a team. You know, obviously we lost two games. And to lose this one here would have been terrible. It's nice to see everybody coming back into this back-to-back games and bringing that personality. (How much confidence does this fill you now heading down to Los Angeles?) Yeah, that's a big win for us. You know, going to LA, obviously unknown conditions. We're not sure what's going to happen there. But we're happy to go on the road here now and be happy to win. And we'll take it day by day, game by game. We got to assess conditions and play accordingly. So we're hoping for the best.
Romario Shepherd: It make me feel fantastic because, you know, how big a game it was today. So, actually, to say I planned that, I was lying because it was something fantastic. So, I'm thankful for the win also, yeah. (Tonight you bowled two maidens, and you went for just five runs. How did you do it?) Well, I didn't plan it. I just tried to hit the area as much as possible, keep the ball straight as possible. And, you know, it happens. So, I'm thankful for that. (How big is that win for you and your team?) Yeah, momentum is important in T20 cricket. So, obviously a win today, it's something that will help us going into the end of the tournament, the middle part of the tournament. Because, if we had lost today, we would have gone in a bad position. But today, this win, it will lift the spirit of the team.
Jason Holder: (144, did you feel that was too many runs?) No, I thought it was a good effort by our bowlers. You know, the way we bowled on the surface I thought was commendable. Just unfortunate the way we batted. I thought we could have put a better effort up. We didn't get enough partnerships up front to really take the game to them at the end. (50-run opening stand, and then from there, wickets fell) Yeah, we lost some soft wickets at some crucial stages. I thought we lost a little bit of intent in the middle as well too, which really faltered us. So, quick turnaround. We play again tomorrow, and now it's our first loss in the competition. So we got to keep our heads in it. The spirit of the group is still pretty good, and that's something I reiterated to the boys. (What have you learned about this Oakland wicket headed into tomorrow's doubleheader?) It's hard, man. It's not an easy wicket yet going on. It's been a bit low and slow as well too. So, it's something that we got to keep in the back of our minds. We need one of our top four batters to bat very deep and win the game for us.
18:01 Local Time, 01:01 GMT, 06:31 IST: MI New York have defeated LAKR by 41 runs to register their second win of the season. Earlier in the day, Quinton de Kock's brisk cameo laid the foundation before Nicholas Pooran produced a superb unbeaten 70 to steer MI New York to a respectable total on a surface that wasn't the easiest to bat on. Andre Russell kept LAKR in the contest with a brilliant four-wicket haul, ensuring the target remained under the 150-run mark. In reply, LAKR made a bright start during the powerplay, but the game turned on its head after Colin Munro's run-out. From there, wickets fell in clusters, putting the chase under immense pressure. Kenjige starred through the middle overs with a three-wicket haul, while Corbin Bosch matched that effort with three wickets of his own to keep the Knight Riders on the back foot. Andre Fletcher fought hard and tried to keep the chase alive, but with partners falling regularly at the other end, the task eventually proved too steep. Not to forget Romario Shepherd's outstanding spell either. He was sensational with the ball, conceding just five runs in his four-over spell and playing a huge role in restricting the opposition, making it one of the defining performances of the match. Also, LA Knight Riders have never beaten MI New York in this competition. Stay around for the presentation..

Trent Boult to Ali Khan, out Caught by Rushil Ugarkar!! Ali Khan is the last batsman out. Good length delivery by Trent Boult and Ali Khan pulls it straight to mid-wicket. Ugarkar who has been expensive today, takes a sharp reflex catch to draw curtains to the game. That was a clinical bowling performance by MI New York and they look a satisfied bunch. Corbin Bosch to Fletcher, out Caught by Trent Boult!! LAKR's last hope is gone. Andre Fletcher looks to take him on, but gets deceived due to the slower delivery by Corbin Bosch. Completely gets outfoxed due to the lack of pace, and the fielder at long-off takes a well judged catch. It was Boult who made sure to latch onto it.
